And as if I don't already have enough in-progress builds going on already, here's another one to add to the group.
I have to first thank salinas for his Fleetline chop a while back, and for giving me the inspiration to start my own take on the subject.
I guess I've been working on this for about two weeks. I usually take a bunch of W.I.P. pictures, but just didn't get to that this time. There's a whole lot going on here starting with a 3" chop with forward leaning "B" pillars. I pretty much cut it up like salinas did with his. I did widen the forward section of the roof to line up the "A" pillars by sawing almost all the way back to the rear of the panel, and then spreading it to line up the posts. I have also hopefully corrected the shapes of the windshield and the rear window.
The body has been completely dechromed, and the drip rails were removed but will be redone when the work on the top is done. The front and rear window moldings will also be replaced at that time.
Beginning with the hood, it has been dechromed and sanded down as far as possible to lower it visually. Also the front and rear corners of the hood have been radiused. (Still working on the rear corners on the body below the windshield.) The hood lower front edge has been straightened.
The grill surround/rolled pan are from the AMT 50 Ford convertible kit, and were reworked quite a bit so far. The headlights are also from the Ford kit and will be frenched to the fenders.
The rear fenders have been heavily lowered on the upper surface, starting from the top curve, and going rearward. I actually broke through on the left fender in doing this. (See the small white insert filling the hole.) I have also extended the rear of the fenders. The rear bumpers will be the 57 Pontiac's in the AMT grilles parts pack, and will be slightly modified to fit between the inner part of the rear fenders. The taillights will be inserted inside the round part of the bumpers where the factory "bullet" is now.
I may be using a pair of modified Pontiac split bumpers in the front pan. The grille will be the Plymouth piece I found in my parts box. Ah, enough of this....have a look at the pix! Gary
