I have started a new build. I realy like things about the stock design on the 59 imperials.. but of course there is a lot of things nat needs to me changed on even this. It will be a mix o the best things from 59-62 imperials The fins got a strange look. I changed the curve on the side panel to match the roof line. Also lowered the fins and gave them a 61 imperial inspired look. The headlights will also be inspired by the 61 imperial. By combining the stock bumpers with parts pack dagmars and center piece of 58 impala bumpers i got the bumper design i want as a base to work with and get my personal touch on. In some way i think the sharp corners that you see on the body go well with the over all design on the body and will stay on that theme. I will try to get a feeling of a concept car with a futuristic ”space look” as they thought back in the days.

The change of the fins makes a big difference, it looks more futuristic to me. How much is the top lowered? Or is it? Paul

I like the chop a lot. On the fins I like stock height but removal of the windsplits, which smoothes the fins for a much cleaner look. But, the changes you're making to the chrome are inspired! I am following this build very closely! Gary

Must say, I prefer the lowered lid and the leveled fins, together they begin giving it a finished designed look, much better over stock fins.

Really like it so far. Agree with everyone that the chop and fin mods look great. Love the front and rear bumper treatments. Perhaps its the grille but something in the front just seems like too much. Then again the stock grille and bumper seems like too much. Interested to see where you go with the build.

Well.. the interior in this SUCKS. I totaly HATE this type of fully molded seats and door panels. It’s okay for a quick build if you don’t detail and rebuild. For a guy like me who loves to detail and rebuild it’s a pain when interiors look like this. Had to cut everything and rebuild it to the way I want it. I have not decided on how I want the door panels yet but i think I have to scratch them or steal from a 59 impala I got as spare parts car. Also carfully cut the roof to make it ”glass” and the other part will get brushed steel look.

I like it! I always thought if I did and Imperial I'd try to do the roof half glass tinted body color. You are showing me the end result. Excellent! Paul

Now that interior, very interesting ideas here too. I also have 4 of those AMT 58 Chevy custom seats, and the Revell 59 Chevy convertible door panels. I think those are very good ideas.
When you started this it inspired me to start my own 59 Imperial. Same kit but as a convertible in my case. Nothing posted on that yet.
Keep up the great work and photos. Gary
