I startded this build almost a year ago and have more progress on it than shown in pics. I will post some building pics for you all until it’s done. Started as a 53 hudson and stole half of the roof from a revell 49 mercury woody wagon. This is the starting point of my build. Stay tuned for more pics.

Now that's a cool idea...the long roof flows so well with the Hudson's design! Looking forward to seeing this build progress.

Marcus, you need to raise the bottom of those long side windows to continue the lower line of the door windows to keep the continuity flowing. Looking fine otherwise. Gary

Marcus, you need to raise the bottom of those long side windows to continue the lower line of the door windows to keep the continuity flowing. Looking fine otherwise. Gary Yea, I know.. I will ad some more plastic and trims all around the windows. Trust me, I don’t miss details like that. Haha. My builds maby don’t look as much in the first pictures but grows and small details (and things like that) will come along in the progress. I have a tendency of often removing the trims (since they get damaged of cutting) and make new on my builds. That is one reason why the long side windows are lower. The other reason is that the mercury roof was a bit higher than the hudson roof. I have some ”problems” on the rear door design. That’s one reason I don’t build this, or having a short break trying to figure out how I want the look. Thinking of maby have one big door with the windows in one piece. Other way is to give it a horizontal cut below the window to give it a folding look. Third way is to split it in half vertical. how ever I decide to do it, I don’t want that BIG empty space on the trunk door as you see in the pics. Maby a door handle, licence plate or licene plate light.. or all of it will give it a ”stock hudson” look I need to get for the rear end. My vison for this build is to get the customized ”factory” look.

And I can tell you're on track for your vision. Sorry for not thinking that you were aware of the issue I brought up. Gary

May I suggest removing the molded in rib detail (wood?) on the tailgate and paint that area body color. I like the idea of the horizontal split tailgate. To break up the big expanse of sheetmetal on the bottom part you should definitely do as you suggested and either do a recessed license plate opening (depending on how "custom" you're going with the rest) or at least a license plate holder, and definitely some vertically oriented taillights.

Looking very good, gotta love a Wagon that we don't see every day! The body proportions are just right, especially I like that very long rear side window, a bit like some European 2 door wagons had in the 1960s. Keep up the good work!
