Hi all, Brad Leisure here! Some of you know that I sometimes do artwork for Model Cars mag and I've done a few kit boxes for Round2 and Trumpeter. I like to paint girls and cars as well. They are all TRaKable too! My thing is authentic fifties girls and authentic fifties cars. I've only done a few. I would like to capture the essence of the fifties pin-up and cars as they were for the most part. In other words I'd like to see a Gil Elvgren pin-up girl on an Art Fitzpatric car. Since no one was doing that I thought I'd give it a try. These are my first attempts. All are acrylic on illustration board.
This was a shirt design I did for Modern Props in Hollywood. The day the aliens actually showed up for the sci-fi shoot.
I took this photo of a neat rod at a SoCal rod show. I thought it needed a girl on the tire so I asked my wife to sit on a tire, thumbing a ride, while I took her pic. She made me change the face. Didn't want the publicity I guess. So there, with a few alterations, is Sheryl on a tire. I just love fifties western girls!
Here she is leaning up against a car and up to no good! Again I had to make it look like someone else. This is one of my favorite cars, a '57 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer D-500 (hemi car). The 38's are in the purse. You'd be surprised how many guys are confused by that. I'll try to post some other stuff later.
Very nice! In addition to Scale Auto, MCM, and KHRM, I seem to remember a '40 Ford 'Big Tub' sketchpad in Rod & Custom a few years back. Artwork, cars, and pinup girls all go hand in hand- I really like these.
As far as pinups go? I'll have to say she's still the best...
