Interesting coincidence--I just noticed a Hillman Minx derelict for sale this morning while surfing the classifieds here in western Canada. They were a fairly common import at the time, along with Vauxhall. Stubby little sucker;looks good as a drag car! It's like a Morris or Austin that wants to be a '52 Chevy when it grows up.

LOL and with that short wheelbase must have been a handful to hustle down the quarter in a straight line. These were popular out on Long Island where I grew up too. My neighbor had a driveway full of them, but then, he might have had all of them!

Those were pretty popular around here also. I think I remember seeing some old pics of a Finnish (or Swedish?) Drag Race version of one of those, too. Neat little car, but nowadays very rare to see in traffic. In fact, I've seen more of them abandoned in forest than in running and driving condition.

If you look close, you can see that the door and bed side is a Ranger. They've just cobbled shit all over it. The front wheel was what got me to looking at it closer.

Ram tuning. Not really digging the tractor pulling vibe though.

Whoa, that front suspension is bananas! I can't quite figure out what's going on with it.

It's a semi-IFS swing axle setup. The swing axles almost look like they're made from Ford wishbones? The two struts going back provide fore-aft location and the transverse spring locates it side to side. Steering box is mounted right in the centre with the tie rods coming out to the front.

The trailing arms must be more solidly connnected than they initially appear, otherwise the vehicle would suffer extreme caster-change! I'm thinking there are triangular brackets there, but they're catching the light and appear the same shade as the floor. If so, they'd form a solid A-arm with the swing axles, which makes more sense geometry-wise.

I think they're connected at the top shackle mounts, so the spring/shackle is obscuring the mounting and makes it looks like they're floating.
