You sure that's not the 1/32nd scale Lindberg 40 Ford Convertible? Looks about the same proportions as the Lindy '40 did, none of mine ever survived into adulthood, they always ended up having catastrophic car fire issues, burned to the ground before the fire department could even get there. Or was it that the fire department wouldn't go near it because of the explosives hidden in the trunk...
I actually kind of like the proportions of this '40, that hood is sectioned so much it's almost pancaked. Really makes it look sporty kind of needs a Red and White Gee Bee behind it for a nice period correct art deco look! Now that's a section!

Yea I get that but most of mine were the old Pyro kits. It does look sleek in a 40's way and that Gee Bee would indeed look great. I was thinking one of a period travel trailer.

Wow. What the hey is going on here? Looks like a custom body on a truck chassis. Early California hot rod I think, wonder if Jay Leno has it yet.

Very kool...could it be a stripped down Auburn or other classic sports cars with aftermarket fenders, grill and lights?

'29 Packard, the wheels and the kick in the chassis looked familiar to me. An old friend of mine, before he died, had a Dual Cowel Pheaton Packard '30 or '31 which at one time belonged to actor Edward Everett Horton (Voice on Fractured Fairytales), I believe it went to the Harrah's collection. I had seen the chassis on it and it was very similar. Packard had somewhat of a different business model than other U.S. automakers, when you bought a Packard motorcar what you got from Packard was basically an engine, frame and running gear which you took to a coachbuilder and had a body constructed onto the chassis. Jay Leno has at least one bare Packard chassis in his collection, I believe that it never had a body built for it. Thanks for the links to some of the backstory on the car
For a Lt. in the U.S. Army Air Corps to have had this car built is pretty amazing, it would be about like a Lt. In today's armed services to have gone in and plopped a wad of cash down in front of Boyd Coddington or any other high end hot rod shop asking for a car to be built. Auto loans didn't exist back in 1929, so the guy who had it built had to have saved for some time to come up with the funds to have something like that built, that in itself is quite amazing!

This was posted by Lynn Bird on the FB group Pre ‘55 Period Correct Hot Rods, I don’t think I’ve seen a ‘33 grille/shell on a Model A. Posted here with permission.

Dang, that's actually a really good look. Works well with the swoop on the cowl, at least from that angle. I'll have to file that one away in the ol' brain box.

And lookit that windshield frame and glass. Yeah, the angle of the posts kinda goes with the grille too. Different look and clever. Gary
