Would this kit be TRaKable? I know it wouldn't with the stupid "truckin on down" decals. Those will get pitched. I built this kit as a kid and looking forward to giving it another go around. I'm thinking of building it box stock or very close to it. Kinda like I did with my '36 Ford. I'll probably change the carb setup and intake. Tires will get changed. But, I'm thinking I'll use the Fentons with a shot of dull coat on them. Also, does anyone know if this kit came with two sets of tires? I can't remember if it did or not. But, it has a pretty nice looking set of the old two piece tires that I can't recall seeing in any other kit. They're narrow with small fronts and bigger rears. I'll post pix later after I get them glued together.

Out of the box, that kit looks pretty cool, but not quite trakable! It will need some adjustment to the wheels, tires, and stance. The "fat tires sticking out of the fenders" was a 70s thing, and combined with the deep slotted mags---VERY 70s. Going with narrower tires in front, and substituting M+H slicks in back, and maybe cast-finish American Racing mags all around, would help it to look more 60s. If using slotted mags, in the 60s they tended to be shallower up front, as opposed to the fat front wheels of the 70s. The kit also appears to have a very high/tall stance, which gives it a bit of the 70s "street freak" appearance. 60s: And then the 70s: This yellow "A" could almost pass for a 1967 car (the cutoff for TRAK) if maybe the wheels were tucked under the fenders more, and the front tire size/width reduced a bit, maybe lower in the front too instead of that 4x4 stance. More 70s: And here's a car that looks like it was built in the 60s, but updated in the 70s with wild paint and fatter tires. Definitely approaching "Street Freak" territory.

Agreed. I think those Switchers kits came out early '70s? With a wheel & tyre swap, it could pass for late '60s.

Thanx guys. I won't do a WIP. I'll just build it and see where it goes. It may be TRaKable when I'm done or may not. I'm definitely going to adjust the stance, tuck the tires in and make some changes to the engine.
