Good to see you're back on this again Jim. I was always a fan of this body too. I drew this picture in the early 60's. Accurate I don't know, but I always thought it looked cool. Hosted on Fotki I know your model will be cool as hell and it actually is already. Gary

Gary...you gotta build it! It has that wild show rod feel of the era.

I've been debating the color scheme for this '27 T in my head ...what I was sure of...I wanted a dark body/grill color with complementary (opposite) color on the wheels/engine Black is a bit too often used, I like red too, but that is a bit common as well. Been reading Al Drakes book on fifties hot rods, there were purple cars back then, even some on the dry lakes. I thought maybe a very dark blue/violet metallic, with red or maybe yellow orange steelie wheels. After searching the rattle can racks I couldn't find exactly what I wanted....the choices: Tamiya Blue Violet........ value too pale, hue a bit bland light blue, a solid color, a metallic might be better Tamiya Deep Metallic Blue......right value, dark, but hue was too blue, not enough violet Model Master Deep Pearlescent Purple enamel.........dark enough but not exciting Model Master/Rustoleum Ford Ultra Violet Pearl Lacquer.........the right value, dark, and a deep violet hue, and its a fast drying lacquer Made a decision, went with it. Here's what I got. ...parts mocked up, not glued yet. The Tamiya Chrome Yellow is a bit too orange for my liking.....wish they had a lighter yellow in a spray can.

I love it Jim! Can you still get Duplicolor rattle can paints where you're at? I know they use to make a nice pale yellow that was obviously lacquer based.

Thanks - I think my Advance Auto carries Duplicolor...I'm getting used to the darker yellow now. And I bought a bottle of Tamiya Lemon yellow ...which I can test the color, then shoot thru the airbrush, if I like it. The Tamiya Pearl White for the interior wasn't very pearlescent...I may want to redo.

The Tamiya Pearl White for the interior wasn't very pearlescent...I may want to redo. My experience with the Tamiya pearl white is it takes a few coats to build up a pearl effect. Digging the color combo. I did notice it looks like you may be using Model Car Garage heads for your flathead. If that's the case you may note they are a little large for most 1/25 engine blocks. I'm not a scale bigot by any means, but these particular parts are definitely 1/24. You can still use them, because they are beautifully mastered and cast parts. I would just add a small strip of plastic on the underside of the top of the head and paint it the color of the block to fill the gap. Pretty painless, and you get to keep those great looking heads. or feel free to disregard my comment

Cleaning up the interior, on the pearl effect, I just kind of lucked out and found something called Testors AZTEK white pearl for airbrush...in the sales bin at the LHS. looks like it might enhance the PEARL EFFECT..

If the MCG pieces are 1/24th...wouldn't they be larger than needed for a 1/25 engine block? They seem to be if anything, a tad smaller. I did a test fit, took a couple of pictures, appears to me the valave covers fit squarely over the place for them, where would the strip of plastic go...to fill the gap...would it be to make the valve covers ride "higher" on the block?

I'm not sure what you're using for a block, or if those heads are even MCG because you stated somewhere they were Rep+Min parts. I just based my thoughts on the color resin, which looked darker than what Rep+Min uses. So I could be way off. Whatever combo you have going on is working because it looks like everything fits.
I know Bernard has observed the same issue with the MCG heads, and he is the one that came up with the fix. When i get home I'll try to grab a pic of the issue I'm talking about. But in your case it appears to be a non-issue
