I have had a thought in some years now. How would a ´49 Merc look with ´53 Studebaker rear fenders, tail lights and rear bumper ? I actually started to rebuild a The Modelhaus chopped ´49 Merc. But then Revell released there chopped Merc and then I moved the project over to this one instead. Because after all it is much more easy to work with styrene - styrene, than to work with resin - styrene I did a lot off measurements before starting cutting in the ´53 studebaker from AMT and the ´49 Mercury from Revell. This is two completely different body shapes. I use strip styrene to build up between the "new" fender + taillights housing and the "old" body. I´m using a square sided styrene rod to support the fenders and rear bumper to sit properly while working with the pieces. Later it will be hidden by the bumper. Later when I finish the work whit the fenders, I will procheed with the B pillars. I don´t like straight B pillars on a chopped Merc of this year model. So I will lay it down in an angle that supports the angle on the fender skirts front lip.

I just came up with another idea that I have adopted from another project that I have going on.
It is to "slice" up the fenderskirts on the lower part off the skirt. To make the wheel behind it visible and then again not, because it will remain covered.
It is a little hard to describe but I hope you understand the modification ;D
BTW I can´t show you pics from that other project, because it is non traditional .
