I have a project that will have a tube axle and disc brakes up front. I've seen both here. But want to check first before I start posting progress photos. I may actually change out the tube axle for a drilled I beam unless it messes with the stance I have. The disc brakes will be kept up front no matter which axle I use. The rear will have drums. The period I'm aiming for is late 60's (68-69) if that helps.

Lots of cars at the time had tube axles, and by the mid-late 60s early disc brakes were definitely available. Airheart was one of the early disc brake brands. Apparently Jaguars used Dunlop disc brakes from about the mid '50s. Photos from a '62-63 catalog, sourced from the HAMB:

Thanx Chris! I thought they were. But, I wanted to make sure before I started a thread on it. I have quite a bit already done. But, still a ton more work to do. It's the first model I've touched in over a year! So, I may be a little rusty.

Airheart disc brakes were used on the front of gassers because (a) front brakes were required and (b) they were lighter than drum brakes.

Big John Mazmanian ran disc on the '41 Willys coupe; so you should be able to source them from the newer tooled Revell '41 Willys kits; which also have a Don Long style tube axle.

This is the axle from Revell's 41 Willys, not shown but it does included disk brakes
