I have always kinda hated those rounded-triangle mesh air cleaners that kinda look like urinal cakes. (Apparently they're Edelbrock "Pro Flo 1000". *snort*) But I'm thinking of using them on a full-fendered '34 Ford project with cragars, aiming for late 60s (or even 70s, at which point I won't be able to post it here!) Anyone know what year these came into existence?

I thought Weiand made those originally? They always put me in mind of '80s Car Craft articles... I'm sure they were around in the '70s, but not as far back as the TRaK era AFAIK.

That's what I thought...more of an 80s thing.

I think I remember seeing those in Rod Action, somewhere around '73 - 75'ish timeframe, as well as the last of Rod & Custom magazine which died out the first time around '74. So they are out of the parameters of TRAK's cut-off. Didn't the ugly Corvette in Corvette Summer have that air cleaner too?
In the '80's my '67 425 HP (Convertible Hardtop) 'Vette had 3 of them on the triple Rottenchester two-barrels, they were so ugly and loud, that I replaced them with a stock Chevrolet Corvette air cleaner. All three of them are probably somewhere in my Dad's garage, if he didn't toss them too! I think his '70's Mercury Merc-Cruiser boat motor had one of them on it's 2 barrel carb, it got crusty and rusty and replaced with a Cal Custom flat pan air cleaner.

Haha, thanks for the stories Skip. I might drop some velocity stacks on there instead!
