Beautiful! An ambitious project, but you nailed the bodywork. It looks "stock" enough that you could convince me that Ford made a '40 3-window. The through-fender exhaust dumps are darned cool. I wonder how long those running boards would stay white if this were a real car, haha. Super-sanitary paint and construction, well done.

Roger; i couldn't see the build pix; they wouldn't show ! i kept trying to picture of a '39-'40 3 window in my head, but couldn't ! i can see these pix, and i thought WHOA ! i like this, the work; parts; pieces, and the paint; you picked out the perfect color ! you get an A+++ from me !

You should be really happy, this came out effing awesome!
There's nothing I don't like about it, not one little thing. I think you nailed the 3-Window look and all of your other body mods resulted in very pleasing lines and proportions. The color scheme is perfect and the Nailhead full of carbs looks tough as hell crammed in the engine bay. That combined with the aggressive stance, header turnouts poking out of the fenders and big slicks out back, with the hood off this thing looks like it's ready to kick someones ass! I also really like the way you modified the frame center "X" and integrated the Model A kit transmission cross member into it.

Thanx guys, I appreciate the comments! I'm working on finishing up another phantom pickup. Won't be able to post it here though. Trying to knock the project pile down!

This turned out very nice! Modifying the body into a three window gives it a completely different look, but the modification is done so well that one could think it's a factory body style. Color is just right, and I really like the combination of maroon body and white engine bay.
Excellent work, and motivates me to start my '40 Ford project (with Cadillac power) that has been in the planning stages for a long time.

Looks great with one exception. It has to be a 40 ford standard. 39s had the wipers over the windshield. The only 39 that had wipers on the cowl were verts. It still looks great though

The three window has cowl mounted wipers so they won't look like shit.

Summer travels got in the way of the inspirational w.i.p. thread and then the completion post of this stunning full custom. What a spectacularly handsome car it is, and so finely executed. Extraordinary!
