Underneath, this model is non traditional. But, would what shows work?

I believe the old standing rule was that as long as you didn't show the non-traditional stuff that it could skate by here.

It’s a beautiful model and I love it BUT it looks very modern to me...

It’s a beautiful model and I love it BUT it looks very modern to me... Thanx Dennis! That's kinda what I was thinking. I'm actually thinking about ditching the wheels and tires for something modern.

That's a beautiful street rod! I like the liftoff top and super-clean build quality. I wonder what it would look like with Halibrands.

New wheels, how about - Radirs, Halibrands either the Salt Flats or the Wheels off of the Orange Crate (in raw/DOW 7 Finishes), Polished American Mags - making every effort to stay away form billet or ultra-modern wheel choices, (you know the ones that are piling up on the corner of the work bench because they're too new to use on anything). Those three plus wheel variations would give it an updated yet classic nod to the TRAKable years.

As Dennis said, it has a very modern look to it. It needs modern wheels to make it right. Those Revell Tudor wires are so frustrating! They are quite nicely done, and come chromed if you want them that way, but they never corrected the wide tire problem going all the way back to the very first versions in 1996. That accounts for the deep-dish rears which, as much as anything, is what makes for the "modern" appearance. Wj=hich our skills I'm certain you could cut down a set to accommodate more traditionally width rubber and that would do the job. To my eyes, the notion of Kelsey Hayes wires itself is right for this model. It's a handsome car.

Even in person, you really have to look closely to see the inside wires. I also don't like how they have virtually no offset out of the box. The rears are barely deeper than the fronts. I was able to fix that issue. I thought painting them would make the inside spokes more visible. But, it didn't make much difference.

I think the reason you can’t see the rear spokes is because they are set so far back from the fronts, if you look at a real wheel the spokes are virtually all in the same plane. It looks like you could thin the plastic on the inside of the wheel halves to move the back spokes closer the front.

That could possibly help Pete. But, I would probably have to switch to narrower tires too. Worth trying. When I get a chance, I'll fool around with it a bit. Right now, I'm busy on my '58 Edsel Phantom Wagon.
