Looking very good!! And I love the inspiration truck. The only thing I'd change is the color....black is slick, but doesn't show off the '50s-ness of the various body mods (like the flares over the hairpin mounts, and the cycle fenders). I agree with you. To show off all the artistry and craftsmanship it should be a different color. And if I owned it I would not look forward to keeping a black car clean (my wife just got a black Ford Edge, I warned her about black ) However, since I'm fantasizing about owning this thing, it's hard to beat how bad-ass it looks in black.

Nice to see you back at it, Craig! That’s a really neat idea for the cab and overall it’s looking good. You might think about raising up the engine some as that A style frame for the channeled option has it way down low to help clear the floor In those kits. It creates a lot of mass below the rails and not enough above them.

Well, it's exactly 6 months since I've updated this one. Newly invigorated after Saturdays Spring KKIM meeting I came home and cleaned all the extra stuff that had accumulated on the benches. I was very tempted to start something new, but decided to continue with what i already had going. One of them is the 29 pickup. Apparently when I left off the bodywork was pretty much done, so I shot the first coat of primer yesterday. Looks pretty good, just a couple blemishes to take care of. I also started working on the steering setup.

Pipes! Got the front shock supports, de-chromed and mounted to the frame. One of the locator pins for the headlight broke off so I replaced it with a pin. But the big development is that I fabricated the bedside exhaust pipes out of aluminum and got them connected to the rest of the exhaust. I think all I have left to fabricate is the steering setup. And finish bodywork on the bed and frame. Dennis, notice, minimal visibility of items hanging below the frame.

Nifty little truck and I sure dig those pipes! Ya don't see them much, and they are a nice touch here. Gary

Craig, looks great. You mentioned at one point about building a bed with smooth sides. Could you just add sheet plastic to the existing bed sides to give you the same look?

Latest update is looking good! I like the belly-burner exhaust. We don’t see that in scale too often. Bit of advise on those Ala Kart wheels & tires. Add some .040” material to the back sides of the rear whitewall inserts to make them flush with the tire, not sunk into it. Paint the whitewall inserts flat white to get rid of the “plastic” look, too. Makes a world of difference! I did that on this ‘34 pickup years ago.

Now that you point it out I can't un-see it.

I just made 4 little squares and glued them at 12-3-6-9 rather than make a full ring.
