'67 Camaro, '64 T-Bolt fit right in with the years of TRAK, I think you are just fine with these two. As far as Race Car subject matter, I have always been of the opinion that since there is not a "Race Car" section, that as long as it is just a few race cars here and there it's fine.
Not sure why we haven't added a Racing Themed section to include Lakes and Salt Cars, Historic Drag and Roundy - Rounders and others broken down into subsections of types of racing. I know the main thrust of TRAK has always been Rods & Kustoms, but there are a whole lot of trends which were seen and developed in racing before they made their way to the streets. So in my opinion something like this fits and would be a win/win situation for all involved. Certainly would alleviate a ton of questions regarding Racing Vehicles being TRAKable or not. Just my two cents, take it or leave it...

I dig them both. It's great to get some "real-world" racing machines in here as part of the mix. '67 Camaro, '64 T-Bolt fit right in with the years of TRAK, I think you are just fine with these two. ...Not sure why we haven't added a Racing Themed section to include Lakes and Salt Cars, Historic Drag and Roundy - Rounders and others broken down into subsections of types of racing. I know the main thrust of TRAK has always been Rods & Kustoms, but there are a whole lot of trends which were seen and developed in racing before they made their way to the streets.... I agree with what you say, Skip, but, speaking strictly for myself, in general I tend to resist organizing sites with sub-categories such as these. They tend to become kind of "the land that time forgot" zones as people pre-judge what categories interest them. I'd rather just see what's new. That's why I'm such a fan of the "Updated Threads" view (it's my bookmarked default for virtually all the car modeling sites I frequent). Probably the most egregious example of sub-category-itis was the recently departed Scale Auto forum. And even now on MCM I would occasionally catch hell for posting a hot rod or custom, which happened to have a pickup bed, in the General Car section. They recently expanded their Race Car categories and I'd bet the number of thread views will just plummet for each subcategory. Better to keep things general and field the occasional detail question as folks find their way. You're right, there is not much in the way of race cars here but I don't recall it ever being a matter of policy, just member interest. Which reminds me... I haven't done a straightliner in quite a while! Hmmmmm....

I know I'm brand new here, but I like the fact it's mostly traditional Rods and Customs. I put the Camaro on the sister site D.P. My gut feeling was it really did not fit as a rod. Paul

Paul That's cool but just so you know this site has always welcomed vintage drag racing vehicles (and other forms of racing like land speed and circle track) as long as they are period correct and there are several guys in the group that are extremely knowledgeable in the subject. Vintage drag racing is interwoven in vintage hot rodding, you can't have one without the other!

I guess it's just that I personally didn't feel the Camaro was right. I grew up with my dad racing a string of gassers, uncles running Modified and motorcycles on the oval and me drag racing from S/S to AA/FC.I'm still running my chevy for 52 years in the gas classes. For me personally I like vintage form day one to about mid 60's when many were dual purpose. Appreciate all the input and I do have a few that I will post.

Paul That is what Bob suggested close to a decade ago when he kicked my '67 Chevelle off after I posted it......despite the slicks and period pre-'69 parts! LOL!

Dennis & B, yes I get it, you know me always trying to dream up new ways to get more traffic on our quiet little street! I'm happy either way, just thought it might be sort of neat to see the Vintage Racers with a spot to park and pose with the rest!

while I do always respect opinions and ideas, taking them into consideration based on popular response.... I prefer to leave it as it is here. When I am back 100% I plan on cleaning/trimming a little fat off the first glance/home page. This place does focus on Rod and Kustom, it was built with that in mind...but always has welcomed drag. The land speed salty cars and vintage roundy cars were added later on to be accepted within the era and to allow those who like it here...to share their similar era interests.
so in a nut shell, I prefer to leave as is...the mix of "what's new" is nice !
it's simple....
up to 1969 cars, trucks... with parts, style and appearance of being built in the "Real world" in 1969 or earlier. this doesn't mean we are looking for realism, it just means to keep in mind... "was this part, style, color/paint type decals etc"....found in 69 or earlier? the real cut off for traditional is 1965, I expanded our views on this to allow more variety. it's for fun anyways right? enjoy!
