While my 49 Ford is on the back burner, I figured I would try my hand at a “simpler build.” Who was I kidding. This is another glue bomb that was a complete stock car. Only missing a few smaller parts. I’m a fan of model A stuff. Figured a quick mock up and a dunk in the purple bath would get the juices flowing. Lots of parts bin stuff and modded parts to make this work. I’m trying to keep this build on the simple side and not get crazy. I scratched my head long enough to figure out how to cut the rear of the frame out and bump it up to get this dropped down. Front went a bit smoother. The main issue I’m having now is a good that doesn’t really fit well with the stock grill or a 32 grill. I’d like to use the 32 grill and figured maybe run with just the hood top or no hood at all. Like to hear everyone’s thoughts on that. This car will stay with a mostly stock 4 banger. The idea is to make this like a kids first hot rod. A little rough, minor mods and a simple look. Also have no idea on color yet. Was thinking about a patina/black set up. The last photo is just an idea for running no hood. Ok, pictures!!!

Jared; you hit my "hot button" with this Model A since it's a kid's first rod; you should stick with the stock A grille, that's how the kid would have built it (lack of funds) !

Used to be referred to as a "Shave and a Haircut" in R & C and a few other magazines, in other words clean it up and make a cruiser out of it. I'm with Duane on this one, depending on decade that '32 grill shell could go for a couple of bucks to unobtanium for a kid's first hot rod. Given that you are planning on running a hotted up 4-banger the idea of sticking with the Model A grill shell fits better. Dennis did a '28 Tudor that you could look up and see how he attacked the suspension to get it setting right or get to what you want. (Dennis and Bernard's builds are virtual treasure troves of technically sound ideas to make things work, I refer to both frequently. Plus there are others on here that build technically correct chassis.)

Stance is right on. I love a deuce shell on a Model A, but if you're going for a kids first hot rod look you should probably go with a stock grill. That would facilitate an easier use of the stock hood too since if he only has the mostly stock 4 banger underneath he wouldn't want to be showing it off yet. But, make sure to make some sort of performance upgrades to the engine or the TRaK police may come get you for being too stock
