A good friend of mine asked me to undertake this conversion to a 2-door hardtop, with the goal of replicating the custom '60 Caddy known as "Sinner." So, he provided me with a MINT unbuilt Jo-Han '60 Sedan DeVille to desecrate. I lopped off the 4-door roof and replaced it with a Revell '60 Impala roof, narrowed 3/32" to fit the Jo-Han body. Filled the door lines with CA glue and Evergreen .020" rod. After I finish scratchbuilding a new tulip panel, I'll scribe new door lines. "Sinner" Starting point. Virgin plastic. Things are gettin' serious... Roof swap roughed in. Cool thing is, at this point the Jo-Han glass still fits like a glove!

Wow!!
Digging it already! If the Caddy glass still fits at this point & the car wasn't chopped, the glass should keep fitting.

As soon as I read "narrowed 3/32" I thought oh noooo, have fun vacu-forming new glass!! But I'm relieved to hear the stock glass still fits. Very curious to see how you handle the rest of the mods going forward...the 1:1 is a very cool car and your version is already looking good.

Smooth, Caddy's are the Marilyn Monroe of cars.

As you described the changes looking at the 1st photo I thought the roof looks fine. But then you swapped the Chevy roof and WOW. Can’t wait to see more.

Looking really good so far. Don't see many Cadillacs built so I'll follow this one with great interest. Excellent job on the roof conversion, and glad that the JoHan glass still fits as those windows would be really hard to vacuform.

Thanks, guys. I'm actually just going to get the bodywork finished and get it in primer, then it's going off to my friend Chuck so he can finish it. He's a wizard at painting, so I'll share his pics later on.

Nice work! I've seen that car in person a number of years ago. Paul

Finally got some bench time on this project. Scribed new door lines using templates made from a Revell '59 Caddy, added beltline/tailfin trim and added lower rear window trim, then shot some Duplicolor filler primer. Just needs a teensy bit more bodywork, then it goes to my buddy Chuck so he can finish it.

Nice work! Proportions look great! Given the differences between the JoHan and Monogrevell kits I wouldn't have thought this possible.
