Paul; i've never seen many guys tackle an Aero, so i'm interested in this one particularly. it has all of the right parts and pieces, the stance is perfect, and the paint is killer; great job !

Well sir I'm flabbergasted I never thought of that model in that way, but you pulled it off brilliantly, congratulations.

Paul, That turned out amazing! All the right moves to make it a convincing Gasser. You kept it all in the family, GM too! That color, could be Burnt Tangerine or something similarly catchy like that it's just right for all that sheet metal! What a great place to use those Mobius Comet Wheels and tires too. (Never pictured the Comet running Cragars maybe Chrome Reverse or Slotted Mags for a SS car running a Really BIG Block Ford! Rumor had it at one time, the Cragar mags were thought to be a little too "Delicate" to be ran on something heavy weight like a Huge Ford Cammer. They sure look good though, they were always my favorite earlier mag wheels, (now that statement sounds weird doesn't it?).
I am old enough that I remember the Aero Sedans running in the lowest of the low gas classes with their six cylinders and an occasional carbureted 265 or 283 tossed in for good measure. They always looked a little too portly and heavy to run really seriously as a gasser Then again look at the original Flinstone Flyer Hudson Hornet, now that was a real behemoth! This reminds me of the Yellow Aero Sedan Delivery seen at about every March Meet for years as well as HRM's Gasser issue. (I was super lucky as a 9 - 10 year old kid that my uncles would let me tag along to the Drags. So I remember seeing these at the Drags and a whole lot of Destruction Derbies too.)

I did one as a full custom years ago, chopped Sam Barris hardtop design, big rear window, pancaked the rear lid and hood with a full 65 Pontiac interior.

I'll take a few pics and add them here. It's got the "wrong " wheels I'm told for a 1966 time frame

Beautiful job. The beauty of the gasser class was that anything with a roof pretty much qualified in one class or another. Only thing I liked better were the AA fuel altereds cuz they were just plain crazy. There's a guy named George Klass who was involved in drag racing way back who has little use for modern drag racing world (would fit right in with Trakinscale) who has an extensive set of gasser photos (other classes as well). Highly recommend a look. Here's the link to the gasser page: George Klass Remembers: Gassers
