I've always loved the AMT '40 coupe "Blackjack" box art, as seen in the banner at the top of the TRAK home page. So, I came up with the idea to build that car, but use a Revell '40 coupe instead of the AMT. So, I grafted the Deluxe nose from the Revell convertible kit onto the Revell Standard coupe, and then molded in the headlights per the box art. I'll be stealing a few parts from the AMT kit, such as the bumpers and fender skirts. For wheels and tires, I'm using the Revell '40 whitewalls with the smaller front wheelcovers from the Monogram Green Hornet. Interior will be the Replicas and Miniatures custom interior for the '40 coupe, and I have a set of Greg Holland's repops of the AMT decals. There's always been a debate over whether the color of the box art car is black or blue, so I compromised. I found a Krylon dark blue that is so dark it's almost black.

You've been withholding information in our texts. Didn't realize you had done all this conversion work already. it's looking great!

Finished the minimal bodywork this past weekend, and shot some color. Krylon Colormaxx Gloss Navy Blue. It's a super-dark blue. I feel that it matches the box art pretty well. After I get the decals on, I plan to bury it in clear.

Looks to be a close to the box top. Excellent. I use Krylon Colormaxx for some kits, they have some very good color choices. It takes a few days to to be able to handle it. Don't know about Radfink, but I always seem to have nozzle issues after the can sits for a few weeks or months. Paul

I always seem to have nozzle issues after the can sits for a few weeks or months. Paul I generally don't keep them around that long. After I finish painting this model, I'll pitch the can so I don't have to deal with clogged nozzles later. I do save the color name and number in my files though, just in case.

WOW...that came out very nice. I never used the colormaxx before does it dry fast? Thanks. It seems to be enamel-based, so it'll take a couple days to dry enough to handle.

WOW...that came out very nice. I never used the colormaxx before does it dry fast? Using a food dehydrator can dramatically speed up the dry time of enamels and other paints. FYI
