Or do they need to be back date? This was in 1962. '32 Ford, '55 Chevy, and '58 Chevy.

The 32 and 58 are ok, The 55 in the movie has a 427 BBC and a tunnel ram, which is why you never see the engine the rear was a 4 link set up. Back date it to a 409 or a 327 to fit the year and use the stock 55 rear and leaf springs

I'm going out on a limb. No, I would say that the parts used on the American Graffiti '32 5W coupe were around pre-1969 and pre-1963 when the movie was supposed to have taken place. It would have been a high-end Hot Rod for 1962, with far above average fit and finish.

Thanks about what I though. I think the '32 should have been Flat head power maybe 4 carb and a 3 speed trans, '55 maybe 327 with 2 4 carb and a 4 speed, '58 may be ok as is, and the Merc stock flat head.
