I love it! Gasser birds are very cool! You did an excellent job with this kit and the kit bashing!

Way cool! Gasser 'Birds are a special breed of Gasser! Great job with this one, all that hard work paid off with a well done 'Bird! What's not to like, got me drooling and remembering days gone by.
Reminds me of a trip to Seattle International Raceway in Kent Washington in the early 70's where they were running qualifying almost all day on Saturday and well into the night. (Before the days of the stupid 10:00 PM noise shutdowns.) I think it was after 10:00 PM because it was pretty dark and the track lights were on. It was really cool watching the fuel cars cackling on the starting line then belching fire all the way to the finish line.
A bunch of Gas class cars were running some really nice Anglia's, Tri-Five Chev's and Fords. One of those Fords was a Beautiful Candy Apple Red with Silver Flaked hard top, '56 T-Bird running a side oiler 427. We had ogled both the T-Bird and the '55 Corvette it was running against several times in the pits in the daylight. It was a classic Ford Vs. Chevrolet under the lights, we were watching from about a hundred feet from the finish line. Both drivers were hammering on their cars trying to get the most out of them to beat the other and save face for their brand!
Still remember seeing the T-Bird coming at us and as the driver hit fourth gear it looked like he broke the right axle. The T-Bird immediately pitched sideways and started rolling clear through the lights totally wadding it up into an almost unrecognizable bunch of scrap metal; the dizzied driver walked away from it!
So as the announcer is going through his mandatory "everybody stay put, and let the safety crew do their job... "Looks like ________ has just flipped you the bird" he's alright though we can see him climbing out down there right now... Followed by a collective groan from the crowd at the extremely lame bit of humor at someone else's expensive misfortune. We would joke among ourselves for years afterward any time we'd see any T-Bird at the drags, as in let's see if ____ flips us the bird...
I remember that T-Bird to this day, it was absolutely stunning, flawless candy apple red the top had that huge glittery silver chrome-like bass boat size metal flake which almost made it blinding in the sunlight as the candy apple red seemed to look deeper. I even took a bunch pictures of it, the paint even looked amazing in black and white, this was an absolutely "magazine quality car" well detailed and well finished for a Gasser. Funny thing, I just remember that the '55 Corvette was black, it too was a nice looking race car. The T-Bird literally out shined it though!

Beautiful Bird! You caught the look perfect with the paint ,tires and what hits me most (aside the fact its an early bird) is how the taillight lens came out and all the tiny details.

Dang, that is tough yet elegant at the same time. I have a similar build brewing in my head, and I recently secured a cheap parts kit AMT 56 Bird to base it on. It will have one of Ed's tops, and some other stuff to set it apart, but I may wait awhile to even start mine because everyone here will just compare it to this beautiful build of yours.

Very nice! These early T-Birds make excellent Gassers. This is definitely one of the best builds I've seen done from this kit. You nailed the overall look perfectly, and the craftmanship is also top notch. This is actually a build that I have been planning to do as well, I think it will happen some day...
