Damn that's a good looking chop.
Wondering why you didn't strip the paint before you started your mods?

Damn that's a good looking chop. Wondering why you didn't strip the paint before you started your mods? At first my plan was to build it as a barnfind kustom and save the patina paintjob after chop. Since it was so damaged and dented using heat. The chop came out much better than i thought so i decided to save it and build it nicer. All my sanding of body work takes care of the paint later. It takes just a few minutes to sand off all the paint.

But you follow your process since it works for you.

A little update.. the stock trunk was badly damaged by a lighter, dented and rusty looking. To restore and get a better flow in the rear I removed the stock trunk and replaced it with a trunk from a 40 ford. A little bit longer and different curve. That along with stretched fenders gives the car a better profile and 3/4 look. The stock rear window was to big and boxy so I added a 34 ford rear window to it. That stays in ”stock look” and gives the window right size to the chop. The custom bumpers from revell 48 ford goes perfect with the body lines on the lower rear fenders. I added some stips of plastic to the fenderskirts to ”stretch” these lines. The front bumper also levels to the body lines in the lower front fender and gives it a ”360” pattern.

Your mods make it look good to me. That extended trunk and rear fenders really help the flow. I like the patina look, too, even though you are planning to clean it up. I wouldn't mind seeing this as a model of an in-progress custom with patina, primer and bare metal/unground welds, etc.

I'm really enjoying watching the transformation of this one...these old Mopars had so much potential, and you're wringing every bit out of it. I particularly like the chop, and the horizontal line carry from the fenders and bumpers through the skirts is inspired. Bitchin' !!

Interior work started. Found a great pattern, scaled it down and printed it on regular paper. Glued it with gorilla glue (white glue) mixed with water. ”Relief cuts” in the right places helped the paper into shape. A lot of fine adjustments and small details left to do but this is my start.

Looks great Marcus. How will the ribs on the paper show after painting?

Fantastic body modifications/design choices on the build so far! I've always been on the fence, unable to decide if I like 41 Plymouths or not. One day I like 'em, the next day there's something "wrong". Your choice to change the trunk, rear fenders, and rear window has made a massive improvement to the design!

I have stripped all the paint since it was easier to work with a clean body. The other reason to strip the paint was to minimize the risk of getting reactions in the paint job later. Came up with an idea for the tail light design..
