Been a long time coming, but after two failed paint jobs, this ’61 Starliner is finally done! It’s actually a rebuild of the fresh, original 1961 kit I built back in 1976, and it retains some elements of that early build. I originally built it as a Super Stock drag car with the 401 hp/390 cid engine from AMT’s ’34 Ford pickup, then, with a simple wheel swap and lowering, it took on an early version of the mild custom flavor it has now. After years on the shelf it was looking its age, and some years ago I used Easy-Off oven cleaner to strip the old black Duplicolor. Then it sat for some time, disassembled in its box until I finally decided to re-do it. Then two botched paint jobs,a broken cowl and A pillar, more sitting, till the final push to complete it to the state shown here.

Your detail work speaks for itself, the starliner strip on the roof and the front and rear grill work is right on, bravo.

Holy smokes, that is nice. The foiling on super-smooth paint (not on orange-peeled paint like some models I see too often)and the slick body color paint that looks like it's sprayed on sheet metal is fantastic. That is something for me to aspire to.

Very nicely done as always Mr. G. I especially like the paint details on the taillights, really makes them pop. And the interior color with the silver body is stunning.

John, That just looks great, I like how the red on the exterior echos the red interior, the silver paint is a perfect color choice, those chrome reverse wheels make a huge statement. What you've done with this car looks simple, yet so sophisticated, what's not to love! (Even if I am a Chevy lover at heart... LoL!)

The ventwindows and taillights made it for me. Like the colour-combo to. Chrome is superb.

What's so perfect is that all the little details as mentioned above blend into a cohesive build that is exactly right. Perfect.

Ditto everyone's comments. That is one tasty Starliner. If I had to pick a favorite thing...it would be the overall silver/red theme, and the way the paint details on the taillights and interior contribute to that theme.
