That's a brilliant combination of kits to make something different yet authentic. I never knew that 4-doors were used for FX racers. What was the reason for them? All that I can guess is that the added weight of the more-door near the rear axle was a plus. According to the 1963 brochure, all body styles had the same 110" wheelbase.

From what I can gather looking through my old Drag News issues and Car Craft mags, a 4 door Chevy II was stiffer than the 2 doors so weight transfer and traction was better. The base Chevy II 4 door at 2500 lbs was lighter than the 2 door sport coupe at 2670 lbs and 2 door sedan weighed in at 2560 lbs. Body stiffness and lower weight were a good combination. Paul
