I've started to work on the 31 A sedan that I have been inspired to build by Outlaw's 1:1 I'm not replicating his car, just inspired by it and will be kind of close in a couple of respects, But Outlaw probably won't want to be associated with it at the end . Couple of more wip's on the way to Bob. Good thing this ain't no shoboat, doors fit like crap.

Kool idea, Geez! I keep looking at those pics too. It is keeping the fire burning on my 31 on the backburner. .....doors fit like crap. Definitely agree there! Those damn things have one curve, the body another, and the cowl yet another! That's why I don't think I'm going to build any of these with opening doors. Keep us posted on the updates, I can't wait to see more. Maybe my lazy ass will get back to work on mine....

Concentrating on the frame and casting some wheels and tires, But I have the roof cut out and the plywood fit: I have made some tailights like SA's. chucked up some red and regular spru material in my mototool with aluminum tubing for the center piece:

This thing has me grinnin from ear to ear. Way too cool. The tail lights kick ass. The wood is gonna make it completely "stand alone" in the crowd.

Cool! A few more tricks I can add to my trade. Thanks for posting these little gems Geezer!
I have one of these 31 sedans and I hate it so much because of the doors. I gave up one night and glued them to the body...ended up hating it even more, ripped the doors off, threw it in the box... I'll probably part it out for other rods on the bench.
BUT, You're build got me thinkin Geezer. The clothes pins holding the doors on...hmmmmm, Maybe my 31 will see the shelf one....year.

Folks, let me remind you that SOME tweek can be taken out of the doors or body with hot water and cold water. I'm pretty sure Clay is familiar with the method, but for those that are not, it is pretty simple. Take your warped or tweeked peice and place it in Hot water (The hotter the better, but NOT hot enough to melt the plastic, just make it pliable or a little droopy). Hold it in the hot water for about 2 or 3 seconds, and remove it. Try to QUICKLY comform it to the shape or alignment that you are needing, then "Shock" it with cold water. I have used this method on some pretty persnickety pieces in the past, and it has RARELY let me down. The only drawback to this method is that you need some heat tolerant fingers, as they will be in contact with pliable plastic that has just been heated to that state! And, the thinner the piece, the more gingerly you have to handle it, otherwise you may tweek it WORSE! The only other thing that I can see that might hinder the fitment on this is the door gaps. Some folks go for the "equal gap" all around the door edge. That is cool, if you can make it happen. Takes a LOT of patience, and I am still trying to perfect that myself after all the years that I have been building! In the pics that Clay posted with the clothes pins, the only suggestion I could give would be to do what you would in 1:1, add some material to the front of the door and shave it down until your gap is removed. I'm not telling you how to do your model Clay, I'm just offering that up to the lesser-experienced crowd.

Door gaps and misalignment are totally acceptable on a model of this nature. In fact, it's an enhancement. here's a progress foto. I have attached the chrome stripped front axle to a set of KKKKK brake drums:

Nice work so far. How about a tutorial on using your dremel as a lathe? I've heard of guys doing it, but would really like to see how!
