I've been checking out every ones Fireball dragster builds and thought it would be fun to build one for myself. As you guys can see I changed a few parts and added some parts. The tires and wheels were changed out, moon tank, exhaust, valve covers, and scoop. Parts that I added were the fuel pump and hoses, plug wires, and a drag chute. In the cockpit I added a differential, seat belts, gauges, scratch built roll cage, brake cyl. and lever. The body color is Testors purplelicious. Thanks for looking. Mike

Mike, Again, you nailed it! This Sow's ear turns right into a Royal Purple Silk Purse! Like the new American Mags and Racemaster slicks, visible differential is a total bonus addition, turning and making a mount for the fuel tank is a great detour from the heavy mounts furnished in the kit, thanks to the Tony Nancy 22 JR kit for a few identifiable bits, even that clunky old Monogram front axle passes muster, removing the "lugs" for the roll bar, steering linkage goes a long way on these as they are all molded way oversized. The bones of this little dragster are there, totally period correct for whatever direction the builder wants to take it and stay true to it. You did get a Camshaft sponsor decal on there didn't you, this was Cam Wars era after all! LoL!
What helped me with mine was to define who and how it would have been built; it totally looks like you did the same. Almost have to, to keep true to the build definition. You did what I ended up doing with the "floatie" idler pully. I also did the P.E. linkage and seat belts, now crisscrossed Trophy Series belts. (Have since ripped both out the P.E. stuff, since they really distracted from the period look of the build). Researching and looking for my ancient Detailing by Dennis Doty Auto World booklet, he covered how to scratch build Two Port Injector Linkage, (with working butterflies if I remember correctly!).

Great job on a questionable kit Mike. I've seen people (you included_ really make these into something really nice, so much so, to almost get me to buy one.

Great job on a questionable kit Mike. I've seen people (you included_ really make these into something really nice, so much so, to almost get me to buy one. Sadly, they're not .49 cents anymore! Like most of us, when I was a kid 50 cents was a ton of money. So, it's pretty sad that none of us had the foresight to buy up a bunch of these now laughably cheap kits and horded them... LoL!!
