Needs a 3" chop in my eyes. Funny you should mention that…

A vote here for the Gasser rims & slicks. Those wires are kinda a cliche with Woodies. The slotted rims are also vintage, but different.

I've seen a couple Big Woodies that have been chopped, they just don't look that good. It's like chopping a cardboard box and trying to get it to look cool! LoL!!

I like the overall look of the unchopped body and wire wheels. However, the actual wires look overly thick to me. For both wheel halves, perhaps you could paint the wire areas black then brush them with color only on the front-facing surfaces to minimize the thickness.

Great work so far Dennis. I like that traditional look with the flathead and wires.

Really nice fabrication as always from you! I also think the wire wheels work better than slicks and mags on the Woody. Really nice work so far!

Love it all Dennis. Wasn't a fan of the Halibrand style wheels so to my eye the wires are a vast improvement. What I like to do for the rears is take another pair and cut off the outer rim and glue it onto the existing. It gives a much wider wheel so you could use a wider tire (wide oval perhaps) which brings it into the 60's. I don't see the need to stick to a flathead if you use the wires. Perhaps something unusual would be nice. Ford Y block or Lincoln? I hadn't thought of a chop, but Paul's suggestion might look really good. My 2 cents. I be here no matter what way you go.

I’ll probably do some work on the front wheels to thin down the spokes some. The rears don’t bother me.

As much as I love a detailed Flathead I have been thinking and thinking about alternatives. I don’t want something that’s gonna clash with the wires. One idea keeps standing out to me and I think it’ll work. We’ll all find out Sunday…
