I know the exact model of Tims that inspired your project. Since you asked for opinion I like the box better than THAT fuel tank.
Now, if you like the exposed fuel tank look but want something more in keeping with the rest of the model, Do you have any Monogram or Revell ‘37 Fords (Sedan, Convertible, Coupe)? Cut the fuel tank out of the frame, fill the open side with sheet plastic, clean of the mold seam, stand it upright behind the cab and add a filler cap on top. Maybe a couple of tabs at the lower corners to sit on top of the frame rails. Paint it to match.

I checked my stash and I don't have any 37 Fords. I agree with you about the tank, the box does looks better than THAT one. I think I'll make it easy on myself and put the box on. Thanks, I appreciate your opinion.

Sorry I'm slow to respond Richard, but I like the idea of the fuel tank better than the bed, but not the fuel tank you showed. I think your idea of flat sheet on each end would help a bunch. My 2 cents.
