I'll bring this one over to the bench section since I'm working on this well after the 96 hour window. To get everyone caught up, I blame Dave Darby for this. His vintage workbench articles in the last few issues of Model Cars Magazine have gotten the gears turning. Now, I won't be basing this build on the AMT kit since I'm a dyed in the wool Revell 32 guy. My point with this build is to closely replicate the super cool AMT box art, while using more accurate parts. Hoping these old Chimneyville repro decals are still good. I I started with the interior mods. I've done this a few times, so I have a process. I take the interior panels and cut them off below the molded in carpet panels. Then I sever the rear bulkhead from the floor and cut the same amount off the bottom as I did off the sides. Then I glue the bulkhead back to the floor, careful to match the original angle, then trim the back end of the side panels off to match the bulkhead. Easy peasy Next up are the frame mods. You can tell the box art has a Z in the frame up front and probably out back. I happened to have a butchered extra frame to hack up to simulate the Z's rather than actually Z'ing the frame. I did this by gluing the hacked up frame on top of the good frame and then removing the rear portion of the good frame. But first I cut away the gas tank and trunk floor from the good frame. Instant Z

I actually did quite a bit of work in the last 10 days since the official event ended, but didn't document it with pics. I'll remedy that when I get back to the bench because I got the front an rear suspensions dialed in and the wheel/tire combo picked out. Spent my last session fitting the fenders from the AMT 25 T to the brake backing plates from the old Revell Model A setup. This required removing the wheel boss from the back of the AMT 50 Ford pickup wheel and nestling the brake in there. Then I pinned the fender bracket to the brake.

Craig - Those fenders fit better than the AMT design did, Kudo's to you for that one. Great job of re-engineering the mounting, pinning everything together so it fits in a believable manner! Are you going to do any thinning of the braces? I can see where a little file work would go a long way there.
Great job on taking the AMT Box Art to the updated Revell parts and pieces to make a better Box Art Deuce, What's Not to Like!

Neat engineering. I almost like this stuff more than looking at finished models.

Nice work, you have become a master of drilling and pinning in scale!

Fear not. this is still an active project on my bench, even though I did start hacking on that 60 Ford pickup. The firewall from the AMT 32 roadster is too narrow, especially at the bottom. And since the boxart appears to depict a smooth firewall I set about to create my own. Made a pattern out of an index card and then transferred that to a piece of .040 sheet Evergreen. Refined that to shape until you get what you se here. Tight fit with the engine, but it works. Not much left to do on this one as far as fabrication goes.

Lookin at the box art, I think the firewall is flush with the cowl, not in front of it. But you've got the box. If I'm right you'll gain a little space behind the Hemi! Gary

Gary You can see the white "shadow" line around the firewall, so it's not flush. At least that's how I interpret it. Either way, there is space between the firewall and engine, so no need to change it. But thanks for the suggestion.
