Bought this one at an estate sale, the box still has all the custom pieces and the wall hanger. All the chrome trim is done with paint. I will probably take it apart, give it a real good cleaning and leave it just the way it is. At the same sale also picked up an AMT '64 Galaxie complete with working headlights. The tires have pretty much eaten the wheels so that one is slated for a rebuild into a B/FX SOHC 2X4 powered drag car with 9.5' slicks.

How I wish AMT had done a new tool'61 Starliner instead of the '60. :/

Craig, let's see now. You have a couple of 61 Ford convertibles, and I have a couple of new tool 60 hardtops, I wonder if one of each could could be joined together. Just thinking. Gary

Betcha they could. Got a 61 of any type there? Test it and see. STILL need to get to that box with the 59/60 Buick in it!

This, would have been a real "sleeper" had it been the real thing, supercharged (352,390 or better yet) 427 on skinny bias ply 60's rubber would have been a real handful to say the least! That said, would have been really fun to drive! I like how the builder plumbed up the pressure to the motor, makes me wonder if the carbs should have resided on top of the blower inlet or not. Hey, it's an original 60's model probably built by a Jr Hi or High School kid with at least a bit of understanding of the mechanics. (Most didn't build for extreme accuracy like today, that's what made some of these ideas so cool! Imagineering!)

That is a belt driven blower. The chrome pots on top of the engine are mounted directly on top of the carbs to provide the boost.

That setup was based on real world setups and was included in a few AMT kits at the time. Here is real one on a 57 T Bird. A good representation of that type of supercharger is in the AMT 57 Ford, and an even better one is in the Revell 57 Ford (stock car version)

Survivors are becoming a hot topic, especially on Dave Darby's Facebook group. I rarely find anything that will survive after I get to it lol I do have a bunch , but they are boxed up until I move.

it's great to see the old stuff--paint jobs are more normal like a 1:1 car -I see guys building 60's dirt track modifieds with dipped in syrup paint jobs--cars built years ago were not real glossy--But anyhow that's the breaks
