What a novel idea…nice job scratch building the wood, looks convincing. It’d be cool to see a few more pics.

WoW! Probably could have stopped there and said more than a couple paragraphs of praising this wee beauty.
Great job on the woodgraining, the wood, even the "gangly stockish" ride height looks cool everything just goes so well together to make a believable "Thames Woody". If you ever did want to hot it up, I saw an Anglia in print somewhere, (I think it may have been one of the English car related catalogs/magazines that I have buried in storage). Anyway, back on TRAK, said Anglia has a Lotus Cortina lump under the hood, complete with Webber side-drafts!
This is completely plausible. Like Ford, Fordson - UK, started up early post war production with low stocks of steel, so they used wood...

I took this Thames woody to a show last weekend, entered it in a pretty competitive category - Trucks Vans and 4x4s. I knew with all the modern F150 something's it would be a tough competition. Given I spent a lot of time back dating this Revell Thames dragster to the stock configuration (interior, engine drive train) I thought about entering it in "Factory Stock pre 1949" - but the rules say it has to be "stock as it would appear on the show room floor" with no mods. The wheels on my model are not what was on the original stock Thames woody, so that wouldn't work. I had filled out the entry form indicating all the scratch-built components based on research of the original woody, and I even had build pictures of the conversion of the Revell kit race car to a stock woody. So, I didn't win anything, but the show provided the motivation to finish this project, so that was good. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just not on the same page as these contest people.

Wonderful work. Do you play the bongos? Gary Don't have any Bongos, but when it comes to work, I'd rather "Bang on the Drum All Day".

Got a Best Engine Award last Saturday at TAMS 32...really nice to get the recognition after getting passed over last two contests it was in.
Hard to believe it beat all the big supercharged Hemi engines but I guess reaching back to model a stock Thames/Anglia engine and drive train made it stand out.
