thanks guys! hard to believe that back then they bolted stuff together instead of welding. not many people had welders i guess or really knew how to use them. the paint i got ftom Gerard and it was a special mix to match the original 50's paint. he sent me some to use on the models. it's kind of a funky purple color and has a little bit of flake in it. rare for a car painted in the 50's! jeese that is awesome. What exactly was wrong with the rear of the body? This one is messed up... This one is good. I don't know where my "good" one came from, in fact I just pulled it out of one of my parts boxes to take a picture of the "bad" area, and noticed it was correct. I think they may have fixed the issue, but I'm not sure. Does anybody have a new Goodguys '32 coupe issue they can check? Something else, the top corners of the trunk are rounded on the good one.

the one i'm using is a recent "Goodguys" issue, but i have a few from the last 2-3 years and they are all with the bad spot. i never noticed the rounded corners! i'll have to go back and look at some of my old ones. a small flat file took care of the problem quickly though and then i just had to rescribe the trunk lines Dave

I went and checked mine. Its messed up to. I had noticed it before but then forgotten about it. Mine is the newer goodguys release I bought it about a year and a half ago. Maybe Ill order a replacement body from them and see if its the same... I need some parts anyways so a little experiment cant hurt

Yeah, it's a really easy fix....which is why I don't understand why I see so many built kits that aren't corrected. I usually scribe the front body line before I flatten the panel so I don't have to worry about getting it straight later.

here is a pic of the back of the body, the only one i have at the moment at least. i have some small files from Tamiya that work very nice. the flat one took the raised parts down in no time and a quick go over with a medium sanding stick it was ready for primer and paint. Tamiya makes some really nice modeling tools. Dave

DD, the coupe is shaping up real nice!
Fidgiter, that second body looks so much nicer. I'll have to check my stash to see if any are like that. I just got done fixing a bad one for my current coupe project. Hated it.

Looking good, Dave!! After visiting the real car at our local museum a half dozen times now, I'm loving this build. I hope you can give the model half as much character as the 1:1 has...I'm sure that car would have a ton of stories to tell if it could.

i originally saw the car when it was featured in the Rodder's Journal #15. i thought the car was so cool that it was the first hot rod build i had ever finished, but it was not a replica of the car, just heavily inspired by it. interestingly it was that build that Gerard saw and impressed him enough to contact me about building a replica of the real thing! now here i am building two versions of the 1:1. thank you to everyone who has provided me with pictures or help! Dave
