New Revell kit. I installed the separate chrome side trim before priming because you can get the little burrs off, get it to fit perfectly and when you Bare Metal everything else, it all will have the same level of shine. Wheels are from the new Revell Merc kit with those new-fangled 1-1/2 inch white walls from 1962 painted with a drafting compass. 265 from the kit with a modified 3-carb intake from the 348 in the AMT '58 Chevy kit. Chromed air cleaners from a Monogram '40 Ford pickup. Set up the electrical system to use one of those new ALTERNATORS, like on the '62 Corvette. The car will have a tube grille and solid red tailights, maybe some dummy spots. I picked up an AMT '62 Pontiac custom in a junk store for 6 bucks, just for the interior parts. I split the back of the Pontiac front seat and cut up the rest of the Poncho interior and grafted it into the Chevy parts. All the piping is blue detail wire. Hope to have this done in a couple weeks,,,,maybe sooner. Thanks for looking.

Nice work! I love the engine. How do you paint the white walls with a drafting compass?

Nice work! I love the engine. How do you paint the white walls with a drafting compass? I have a small compass that has a quill attachment. You should still be able to buy these at any art supply store for $5 or less. I use Polly Scale white paint in the quill and I use an OLD wheel from the parts box inserted tightly into the tire. Push the pivot pin of the compass into the CENTER of the old wheel and draw (paint) your circle on the tire. This may require some practice to get it right, but the good thing about water-based paints is that you can just wash off the tire, while the paint is still wet, and start again. If you just make a SMALL booboo with the white paint, you can correct it using Polly Scale flat black on the sidewall of the tire. George Bojaciuk did a how-to in his book many years ago and many years before that, a guy did it in Scale Auto in the very early 80's.

Lyle i second (or third or fourth) the thanks on the tip for acheiving the skinny whites (i think it would make a great How-To.....hint, hint _ I'll do a little picture how-to for tire painting, but ya'll have to wait a few days until after I get back from stuffing my face and turkey-induced naps. (Yeah,,,,,like I need a REASON to nap!)

wow, nice work on the interior. I dislike doing interiors. My last two builds are fairly open cars. Needless to say the interiors aren't all that swift. Kudos to you.
