lookin like you got a nicely stocked parts box! i like what you did with the AMT frame, shows that it can be a good choice for a rod build. i know i'm using it under my '32 Vicky, but i wasn't sure about using it under anything else. Dave

Oh, did a couple more progress mockups. I showed the steelies, now here's the wires. I like these better, but they need bigger meats on the back. I would use wagon spoke wheels or even milktruck wheels too, but need to buy them. Any wheel possibilities I left out? Suggestions welcome.

Next chop I do, I'm going to use the razor saw and measure, measure, measure, then mark, then cut! It's getting there, but the time this cleanup work is taking could be better spent on the next step of the build. I gotta agree!!!! Not to "cut in" on your work, your clean-up is great! I am a big proponent of using the razor saw. Nice, clean cuts that always (for me, at least) glue together cleanly. It looks like your gonna go with a lighter topcoat, judging by your primecoat. I anxiously await your color application!!! Dremels (or similar tools) are a little agressive when it comes to removing material, and are very indiscriminate of WHAT comes off. Plastic, bodylines, trim, SKIN!!!! It don't matter. It took me a LONG time to get "decent" with my Dremel and chop tops. I still prefer using a razor saw. Less putty that way too, if any at all.

Nice work on the chop! I love the stance of this ride. It looks killer so far.
Something I always do when I chop a top is lay down a sheet of sandpaper and lightly sand all four or six posts at the same time. Gotta be careful not to snap a post off though. I keep sanding and checking to see if it sits evenly on the rod. then its glue time!
Keep'er goin!

I am actually thinking of suede black with dull red triangle scallops sitting on a dull red frame. I want to do the darker shade to hide some of my laziness on the chop cleanup.

I like that idea! It brings to mind a pic in TRJ#37 page 8. That tudor has about the same chop mine does.... MMM MMMM.... Any body know where to find? Kits? Resin? Thanks for the idea, Tom!

I cut this one really high up on the posts for the initial cut so I didn't have too much leeway there. I'll try this trick next time too! Thanks man!

Thanks for the idea, Tom! Anytime! I'm always thinkin of stuff like that! Might wanna check out some of the "other" model kits, like the metal kits, for the wheels.
