... Les Popo, by several different customizers.....as far as the blue one. The yellow one is a sectioned 40 called the Yellow Submarine. It used to be owned by Tommy Hiser here in Merced. Either he built it, or his brother Bob, or both. I think it was in the movie Hollywood Knights. He sold it a couple years ago. I wanted it but didn't know it was for sale. I hear it's now painted orange... The profile of the car reminded me a lot of the El Matador.

Thanks for clearing up my questions re the sectioning, this 40 is looking GOOD. Reminds me that I have a 39 Tudor art built that looks a lot like this, I'm now inspired to dig it out.
Not wishing to steal your thread here but I wondered if anyone's ever managed to add a steerable front end to one of the AMT 40s? Anyone got any clever ideas how that don't involving kit bashing from a Revell kit? I only ask as I've got 3 or 4 of these that I'd really like poseable wheels on.
Look forward to seeing more pics on this one. Mike

No problem! I don't know exactly how involved you would want to get; but a cheap way out is to just take a pair of pliers and bend both ends of the front axle after it's in place.......just make sure one is bent forward, and the other side is bent back.........works fine for a shelf model! LOL! Ed

This is were the '40 ended up after the last couple of days. I finally got it close to the blurred 'vision' I had in my mind! That being said, I have changed my mind once again! I told my wife that one of two things were going to happen if I didn't figure out what I was doing with this thing......it would either get boxed up, or I'd end up building another because I couldn't make up my mind which 'ideas' to follow through with the first one! So, now I've got two '40's on the desk plus my '40 gasser build! LOL! So, if anyone wants to copy how I have it mocked up below it won't bother me none! I'll post pics later on of the other two; and where they're going! Ed Now why does this sound so familiaar. Oh shit your like me ahahah. I myself have 2 about to be 3 40s on the bench. The gasser the rod and probably the ice cream truck. Plus i sometimes change my mind in the middle of the build which kinda sucks to be honest so most of the time its boxed up. So your not alone. Again i see you moked it up with 5 spokes american raceing rims huh. You must have a stash huh.

Thanks guys.........not going with this idea though! LOL! It has Radir mags on it in these pics, not Americans......kind of hard to tell since the lighting sucks. I use to love Radir wheels; but now you see them on 100 times more cars then they were on back in the day........kind of ruined it for me I guess. I did think it was kind of trick to cut two slots in the hood for the air cleaners to poke up through! LOL!

This is really cool, Ed! I love the six-carb & shorty hood combo. The chrome steel wheels work great but I'm not sure about that ultra-wide whitewall on the rear; looks too "gangstery" for that late '50s, and especially the early '60s period. You're getting into that period when a narrower whitewall was the norm (like in the period shot of the blue car), and narrow white stripes like U.S. Royal Masters were high fashion.
I also really like the option with the full hood and the Johan Lancers.

Oh yeah totaly forgot i didnt talk about the hood. I personaly think the full hood with the 2 cut outs for the 2 carbs was bitchin. I liked that look.
Now i gots a question. Where do you get all those ol skool caps? Lice the lance caps fiesta caps and those caps in reply 15 3 pictures down?
