Haint been very productive here lately. My AA/FA is in limbo in the quarter miler build, and still with no wheels. I'm expecting a couple of kits from Dave. But in the meantime......... well, you know what our mothers used to tell us about the devil and idle hands. I wanted to put TRaK acceptable wheels on this old Revell build(never did like the kit wheels, but the junk yard stash was pretty skimpy back then). But then, $hit started happening. Couldn't get the dam backing plates off cleanly, front axle broke and I finally said, pee on it! I'll just rebuild it all over. I think this is the most I've ever detailed a model. I mean look at those wire wound brake lines !! Alt and pump bracket was cut from soda can aluminum. solder exhaust pipes went into a soda straw collector. And here she lays; Won't be a hi boy this time. Channelled over the frame and I think I'll put a flathead in it. And, oh yeah, the TRaK friendly wheels will be resin from KKKKK ( Klay's Krummy Klusterphukt Kasting Ko.) and they will not stand up to close scrutiny

Holy Crap Clay! I stopped and paused at the pic of the brake lines and wondered to myself... Did the kit come with those and I missed them...Then I read the caption underneath. Well done.
Looking forward to seeing this one scrape the ground.
You should see my first attempt at building this kit....Box stock, Purple body with airbrushed flames (metallic yellow and metallic red) with yellow underneath and engine. It was so garish. It was on my shelf for some time before I couldn't stand it anymore...Recently I tried priming the body and got a chemical reaction with the paint. Soon it will be dipped in the purple pond and started over.

Thanks, all. Body is already soaking in the brake fluid.

Ok, Here's the update. Scratched an axle to replace the one I broke. Used the old backing plates. Changed it to a suicide front to get room for a radiator. There won't be room for a fan blade and I can't put the elec fan back on now, so the SOB will run hot! I opened the cowl vent for a little AC in the cab. (75° in Fla yesterday, by the way) Body about ready for a new coat of primer. I was going to make this a 'clean' rod, but thanks to Dave, I want the kit in the background to be 'clean', so I may take a few liberties with the coupe. ;D

Humph !!! taking another look at the profile foto, I guess I could have slid the engine back a little. Maybe I'll still do it before I commit the frame to paint. Maybe not. That sedan is calling me.
