Clay what was the color that you stripped off the Coupe? i think it's a gorgeous color. Looks like it could be Dupli-Color "Orange Mist". It comes out kind dark if applied right over a dark base or multiple cots, but light like that on the frame if applied over a light base. I gotta get me somemore, cause I ran out before I could finish my '41 Woody.

Testors? in a small can. Then I tried to ghost flame with a covering of a light coat of the same color. Seem to remember that it was slightly transparent.

I'm not prone to post mundane redundant photos like several shots of a body in spray bomb primer, but there's a lot of little things that a hardcore builder does in a build that just aren't noticable in a finished model and gets no credit for. This build needed headers. I didn't have any. I know R&R0M has them. but I don't have his catalog. Scale Dreams used to carry them, but they shut down. I had to make my own. Besides, I can't just buy anything I might need anyway. I tried a couple of other methods with unsatifactory results, and finally came up with this coated wire version; The header on the left I used as a master and just came out of making a mold of it. I made a couple of molds of the small flanges also. All in case I ever get some more resin and get it to cure properly, and then I'll have some flathead headers for a future build. Flanges seem a tad oversize, but I'm not good enough to get them any better, and besides I don't care all that much BTW, those headlight brackets are made from bumper braces.

wow those headers are SICK so correct me if im wrong but you just bent and cut and glued the wire to the shape? Thats awesome, i have some wire that is about the same thickness of that im gonna have to try that. I found it on the ground one day, i always pick up anything that i think might be useful on models haha.

Y, Kyle just wire. Worked pretty good. Couldn't get smooth curves with plastic or alum tubing, and I don't have any solder the right diameter. This wire had a clear plastic coating that worried me some, but it didn't seem to bother anything.

This is going to help me out a lot. Thanks again

I seem to always be trippin' over 12 gauge wire whenever I go into my garage, maybe I should actually pick it up and use it for this! It would appear that the wire in your pics is, in fact, 12 gauge. Man! You can pick up a 50 foot roll of that at Menards or any good home center for about 30 bucks! How many headers would THAT make?

That is a good idea Clay! I actually just figured out something similar to do radiator hoses. I have lots of scrap wire and I'll just use the insulation for the hoses. I put brass wire inside the jacketing and I now have bendable rad hoses! The strands taken out of the insulation can be used for detail wire in the engine bay or under carriage. Sorry to be a thread pirate(Arrrrrr) but I had to share. That does look great even with the monster flanges! Keep us posted!

Hay, Dub, take one of those fine strands and coil it around the outer wire and paint it heavily, and you'll have ribbed radiator hoses.
