I was just stirring ;-)
After all if it had a rotary surely it'd be a race car...

I think that it came with the 1965 Mazda Cosmo sport. But NSU was a bit earlier with rotary engines. 1963 or 1964 IIRC. I think it's safe to say, that we've left the category traditional, as far as rods or customs goes, by now... Lol! I agree...there is no way I would put a wankel in a rod or custom, not even a drag car, and call it TRAKable. And a customized Mazda Cosmo...well, nah, that doesn't feel traditional at all even if all parts are right time-wise... MAYBE, and this is only maybe, in some LSR car...my thought = the wankel was a new engine type by then, SOMEONE probably had an urge to set records with it... So yes, I agree with you there, it was only some thoughts... And to be honest, I think that turbocharging has some differences. The Corvair had it as an option - the Corvair CAN be, and have been, built in TRAKable ways... So I can't see why a custom Corvair with stock engine (with turbo) would fly, but if one takes the turbo from the exact same corvair and put it on a CSB in a 60s style rod or drag car, it wouldn't have problems with it... Since the technology was first introduced in american cars, and the USA after all is the home country of TRAKable cars ( ) there is great possibilities that some tech nut was interested in trying the technology in a rod or drag car. But YES, I am really feeling that we're crossing the borders now. Personally I would never been a turbo TRAKable (except for a Corvair, or if it was possible, Olds), for me something doesn't feel right about that, and there's no truth in saying that turbocharging were common in the days... Heck, I didn't even post my 1959 Impala on the shelf with all TRAKable parts and paint, because it had a very 70/early 80s feeling about it... So I'm not really trying to stretch the rules...

There seems to be a refreshing lack of rule stretching here (or maybe Bob just dletes before we see it . Once we get settled in and grock the vibe then what can and can't be posted comes easilly. Or that's the way it seems to me. I'm usually terrible for stretching rules and finding loopholes but I feel no need to do that here. So anyway, what you're saying is that I can't post up my '53 Stude' with a Turbo Mazda Chook Cooker?
