Thanks for the comments everybody. The 34 was a blast to build. I forgot to mention it only took me three days. Ahhh, the holidays.
A new trick I picked up from an issue of Scale auto is to use small strips of chrome foil to resemble tape patch jobs on the seat. Really easy small details like that really brought the 34 to life for me.

the mud looks awesome! i'd like to know how you did that if you don't mind telling. both cars are really cool! Dave Thanks dave! I gotta say, Your builds are so inspiring! I wish I had a more subtle touch with the weathering. As for the mud... I use acrylic craft paints. Burnt umber and Burnt sienna. I add in baking soda for texture and use an old hard bristle brush to dab the paint on. The more you dab the more texture shows up which is great for rust. I start with the dark umber and throw in some sienna while its drying to give a slight mix of the two colors. I also apply washes of the two colors as well. The baking soda in the wash has a great effect as well. Now it your turn to share! ;D

that mud looks awesome! there is nothing subtle about a well used dirt tracker! i'll have to give your tip a try on a Latimore Valley special, fresh from the Jalopy Showdown.
what are you interested in me sharing a tip about? Dave

I have been pouring over BOTH cars and I gotta say, that '34 has all of the right touches, right down to the "upside down" valve cover on the right-hand side!!!! GOTTA have that breather cap on the right-hand side when you whip that tail around into the turns going left!!!! Otherwise, you fill the right-side of the motor up with oil! GREAT touch!!! I woulda put the battery over the left rear axlehousing for more bite, but this is still a really kool build!
