Welcome! Please read all of this and keep it in mind at all times when you are posting here.
You MUST do the following to be a member here. If you don't follow these simple rules, you will be locked or removed. These steps are so simple and yet it's for your safety and every member here.
1. Read the guidelines for TRaK. This is a very special forum and all members who frequent this place are here for the same reasons..... Let's not try to change the way it is..... embrace it!
2. Put your first and last name in your signature line. This is found by clicking on your own name or going to the top of the page and clicking on "profile". Once you have done that, just click "modify profile". Scroll down until you see the signature box and put your name there....simple as that! Scroll down to the bottom and save.
3A. Introduce yourself before posting anywhere on this forum. It's only polite to do so.
Start a new thread here to say hello: trakinscale.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general
3B. Next to introducing yourself, you must gain at least 100 posts in order to sell or trade here. You may buy from anyone, but in order to gain some trust before selling please make yourself known. Post whoring does not count, 100 meaningful posts do! If I know you, there may be exceptions. Do not post plugs to sales on other sites in the buy sell trade section.
4. Once you have done the above steps, get some models out...post some photos and have fun! This place rocks and you will enjoy if you apply yourself. You don't have to be active on a daily basis.....but at least once in awhile would be great to hear from you, thank you for joining Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale!
5. If you want to enter for MOM during any given month, you MUST have your first and last name in your signature. If you don't, I will remove your entry without warning. It's very frustrating trying to keep this MOM going and keep it on time for everyone's enjoyment.....when people enter and don't even have the decency to let me put their name on the photo they submitted when they win!
6. Religion and Politics are HIGHLY discouraged. Please be yourself, but don't post threads to rant or create malice and judgement about how life is or who is living in such ways etc... This is a model car forum, please keep it that way. I know at times, we all have troubles...we are family here...we lean on each other....but that's where it ends....let's not start discussions about things that might offend others and stray the focus of WHY we are here. These types of discussions will be DELETED without warning.
7. Don't post porn, and don't swear in the subject lines. (this is not a censored forum) Amended April 16, 2012 The F word is now censored with a cool little icon like
pretty
ing cool huh?
8. If you do not like the way things are here, I would suggest finding another forum. All decisions made in the way TRaK is run is to stay focused on one goal.
*IF I SEE A POST SUGGESTING ANYTHING NEGATIVE OR ONE THAT MIGHT CREATE NEGATIVITY ABOUT THIS FORUM OR IT'S INTEGRITY, I WILL DELETE IT NO QUESTIONS ASKED!*
EARN YOUR PISTONS!
0-50 posts are Soc's
50-100 is a Rebel
100-250 are Hoodlum's
250-500 are Thug's
anything above 500 is a GREASER!
Hey this is all in fun, gotta have something to do right?
When you reach 500 posts, you will have a set of brand new offenhauser connecting rods and pistons like you see by my name. When you have earned your pistons, you are at god status on here. Some advice- Post whoring is pretty lame, don't be in a hurry!
Feel free to put signatures in your posts that include a photo, but try to make them smaller sized so it does not botch up the threads. Put your links up in your sig's too if you want, especially if you have a photo site or a club page.

Now onto the juicy stuff!
This forum is put together for the guys ang gals that really have a passion for "traditional styled" hot rods and kustoms in scale. This means that each model is built with the styling of the 1940s-1969. This means your model looks as if it could have been built up until 1969. (by true standards it would be 1965, but this is a model forum and I am opening up 4 more years for you)
It is difficult to convey the following to everyone without having some kind of confusion or left over questions. The only way to confirm your query is by asking in the "Is it TRaKable" section found on the main page.
1. If your model has parts on it newer than 1969, please don't show those models or if it's something that can be hidden by keeping the hood shut or not showing the interior, it's preferred that you don't show it. What we can't see....can't hurt.
2. If you post a tuner, 4x4, nascar, street rod, lowrider (with straight laced or low profile tires..no hydraulics or bagged and C notched frames either) , muscle cars, dune buggies, military vehicles, boats, ships or aircraft etc...Your thread and photos will be deleted. In fact, don't waste our time please. (how ever, if the parts being used are machined aluminum it is OK if the part actually fits "traditional" styling) if it was not made previous to 1970, we don't want to see it on this forum. People join here to escape the "norm". June 03, 2012 Kustom and Racing boats are okay as long as they are from one of the kits tooled before 1969 AND they fit the same guidelines as everything else. If I feel that ANYthing about your boat is too new..I will delete it without any warning. I am opening the doors a little to era correct racing and kustom boats and that is ALL I will accept. Boats canNOT be entered in MOM.
3. Tribal flames, marble finishes, tru-fire flames, color flip flop paint jobs are not allowed here. If you don't understand, just ask. Larry Watson style panels, lace patterns and some smokey patterns are A-OK. There are some styles that you may not be sure about, just ask.
HOT colors are too new also.
4. It's really very simple......Traditional styled pre-1970 rod (1969 and older) , kustom (concepts are acceptable) , vintage drags and salt flat cars ONLY! (some pre 40's dirt trackers and other racers are acceptable)
To Follow:
PAINT: just make sure your paint job/scheme looks pre 1970.
WHEELS: don't use wheels that were not yet available in 1969.
TIRES: use common sense. pro street and super low profile "rubber band" tires are not traditional.
ENGINES: do your best to use as much pre-70 parts as possible. I don't expect everyone to know the difference, but if you were alive back then ..... you should know better. If you want to use new stuff under your hood....you are welcome to keep the hood shut in your photos please. ie. braided lines, billet parts are not traditional.
VALVE COVERS: use common sense. the 302 engine seems to be a lot of confusion over. Most of them say "ford racing" on them and are too new, BUT they are the kit supplied valve covers for that engine which is welcome. I would suggest keeping them out of the photos if you use them.
INTERIOR: do your best to use as much pre-70 parts and styling as possible. Again, i don't expect everyone to know the difference. Billet steering wheels, NOS bottles, sub woofers and amplifiers...keep them out of the photos please. CD PLAYERS or stereos.....if the car is traditional....i don't mind if you use new stereo in the dash. who in their right mind drives around with the original AM radio?
use common sense please.
BATTERIES: who cares what battery is used? traditional rides STILL run the streets, so ya need a new battery in it right?
LISCENCE PLATES: use whatever plate you want, same as batteries...
BODY PARTS: use common sense. don't put a 71 Cougar roof on a 69 vehicle. this goes along with "style"....if it was not available in 69 it's too new.
ELECTRICAL PARTS: use common sense.
CHASSIS: use common sense. a lot of kits have new style chassis' under them, but if ya don't show it, we don't know it!
COOLING SYSTEMS: electric COOLing fans are very common in many kits, however are not traditional. this is not banned from here, but using them any other place then in front of the engine is not allowed.
RIDE HEIGHT: it doesn't matter how low or high your vehicle is, as long as it's a traditional TRaK style build.
MACHINED ALUMINUM: common sense again. if the parts are made to look like the old stuff, USE IT!
PHOTO ETCH PARTS: again common sense.
RUST: It's perfectly fine to have some rust on your model. However, how realistic is it to cover 90% with rust and say it's something that some rodder would actually be proud to drive back in the day? COMMON SENSE ...use it. Rust doesn't make a rat rod....but rat rods are NOT allowed here. Retro rods or modern day styled rods of ANY kind are not allowed here. We are here for Tradition!
SHOW RODS: The only show rods that are allowed are the following and this list may be updated. Some of these may not seem to be showrods, but this list also agrees with www.showrods.com's alpha list of showrods. To me, many of these are just hot rods and drag cars.....to each his own.
Blue Beetle
Green Hornet
Yellow Jacket
Black Widow
Orange Krate
Silhouette
Beatnik Bandit
Roth's OUTLAW
Little T
Li'l Coffin
Red Chariot
Badman
