Vintage Go-Karts are on The HAMB so I assume that makes them TRaKable. www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-go-karts.250755/I want to build a lightweight racing style kart in lieu of a show kart so I won't be using the large padded seat. Therefore I needed to fabricate a seat back as the kit part has the frame back integral with the seat. Also had to extend the belly pan under the seat area. Drilled holes in the side bolsters to reduce weight and added steering linkage. Made a front bumper from brass rod. Opened the holes on the outer sprocket and used it as a template to also drill the inner sprocket. Made the seat pads, and a better set of pedals. Used a wheel knockoff for the fuel tank cap. Added brackets for the accelerator and brake linkage.

That is hella kool JC. Nice to see someone add some extra detail to this kit. This is only the 2nd one I've seen worked on since the 60 pickup came back.

This is going to make a fantastic accessory I have some old 60s magazines and it's funny to see how suddenly go-karts became the rage and started taking over the pages of the hot rod mags.

Best I can figure its a Rupp kart. Not sure the model or the year but the '64 Lancer looks close. A gentlemen on another forum identified the engines as McCulloch.

Glad you guys like the thread. An older kid in the small town I grew up in had a single engine kart very similar to this. I lusted after that kart! Never had a 1:1 but at least now I can have one in scale.

Very nice work improving that little Go-Kart! Always nice to see these simple kits that have pretty small parts count being detailed. This will look excellent when it's finished, so keep the updates coming.
