I'd like to see what that looks like Skip.. got any pics of that set up? Craig, I'll Try to get the stuff to do that dug out so I can snap a couple pix for illustration. I've got a Flintstone '27 Coupe body that I can set up for some pictures. I don't typically photo-document builds as I go, come to think of it I don't take a whole lot of pictures of builds for some reason. Guess it goes back to being cheap, film used to cost to develop you know! I always forget that I have several digital cameras at my disposal and one with me 100% of the time, the one attached to my leash! LoL!!

Got some more done, fabricated a drag link, might change it a little to get better "flow" with how it looks still need to mount shocks headlights and taillights.

Very cool John! I love seeing little mods like this! It's a shame you don't have something that resembles the back side of a brake drum for the wheels........or an actual brake drum seeing how the more detailed scratch built pieces are right next to the plain looking wheel back. It sort of draws attention to the contrast in detail. Also, what about rotating the pitman arm up (I think they usually reverse the gears in the steering box or put reverse cut gears in place of the stock ones........Dennis would know for sure). This would make things more visually appealing and less cluttered looking. I don't think the shape of the bent steering rod (especially with the pitman arm pivoting so low) would work in real life either; but I could be mistaken here. I found a 1:1 pic on my hard drive to back up what I was trying to explain:

I am going to put brake drums on it, just haven't got that done yet. I was wondering flipping the drag link up was something that was done, it sure would look better!! I will go with that and post pics later

Yes it does! I think it looks a little small in diameter; but once you get some paint on that straight pin it might look just fine!

Steering is finalized, I went with .050 evergreen rod instead of the wire I was using, I have also put on front brakes, going with disc because I am building it as a modern day vintage ride.

Redid the drag link, looks much better now. Is it just me, or would the wishbone hit the pitman arm shaft during suspension travel? Both up and down.

I really didn't think about that, I will see what I can do about that!! I think most guys moved the box under the dash with the arm out the side of the body when they went to an outboard wishbone. It seemed odd to me so i Googled for a bit just to make sure i wasn't crazy. Id poke around on Google and see what you like and looks good for the style of build

I much prefer the new drag link angle. I did a little reading and it looks like there are a number of ways of achieving that effect..flipping a late 30s side-steer box on its side, or a reversed Corvair box. Not sure if a F1 box can be reversed, but I've the flipped pitman arm done in 1:1 many times so it must be possible.
Looking good!
