Sanitary! looks like you're using an I-beam front axle but I can't identify it.

Sanitary! looks like you're using an I-beam front axle but I can't identify it. No I-beam, just the standard kit tube axle that has been stripped of chrome and cleaned up. It will eventually get the shocks reattached as well. I find it easier to remove the shocks entirely for painting and modification purposes. I find that after I modify the axle so that the spring sits farther up inside the front crossmember, the shocks don't fit properly anyway. Easier to remove them and modify.

Stripping it made it look flat on the bottom for some reason. I do the same thing with the shock mounts in these kits, for the same reason. Also removing the shock lets me preserve the chrome if I want it and glue the shock mounts in position on the frame rails to paint them the frame color.

Looking great so far! I'm loving the wheel-tire package and spliced-in AMT cowl top. Well done painting the Edelbrock script on the heads. That's freaking tiny!!

Has a great look already. What’s the end color choice?

You're off to a great start here. I'm with B. I didn't recognize the source of the front axel either. For a minute I thought you had used the rather spindly ancient Monogram I-beam from the early Model A series. RemoviNg the shock detail does a lot. Love that you're using a flathead too, that part looks fantastic! Also love the Orange Crate wheel and tire combo, I recognized them right off! Definitely on my list of models to watch come together!

The grafting of that cowl looks seamless, How challenging was that surgery.

Never been a big fan of the Duvall windshield. But, I think it's going to look just right on this project. I did the exact opposite with the Phantom Vickie by grafting the roadster cowl to it's body. What's the color of the wheel paint? It's got the perfect look to it.

Painting those scripts was definitely a delicate operation. Wearing magnifiers and using one hand to hold the other one rock-steady. One head I actually had to repaint a couple of times because I messed up.

Has a great look already. What’s the end color choice? I'm leaning towards either Ford Grabber orange or possibly go mango. I'm going to shoot a couple of test panels and see which one I like better.

The grafting of that cowl looks seamless, How challenging was that surgery. It was a case of cut the hole in the roadster body smaller than it needed to be and gradually file it larger and cut the cowl top off of the Phantom Vicky body bigger than it needed to be and gradually file it down to size. Test fitting about every four swipes of the file once I got close to the right size. If I recall correctly, the Revell body is slightly longer than the AMT vicky. I had to shorten the length of the cowl by about 1 mm to make everything fit together nicely. I fitted the firewall in place at the same time as well. The front of the floorboard in the vicky kit makes up the bottom 1/3 of the firewall and it looks unfinished without it so I also cut off the front 15 mm or so of the rat roaster floorboard and grafted on the same bit from the vicky kit on in order to have everything fit together properly. Hopefully in the end, it will look like it is supposed to be like that and you won't be able to tell that I did any surgery to it at all.

What's the color of the wheel paint? It's got the perfect look to it. The paint is Model Masters "Jet Exhaust". I think that on a larger part like a wheel it looks an awfully lot like the dow 7 coating. And I find that on carburetors it looks the part of the zinc coating new carburetors have. Especially with a light black wash to highlight the deatails.
