I cut one side of the foil with a ruller for the side trim.........then, all I had to do was trim the underside of the trim down the side of the body........more concealed if your trim line isn't perfect. I guess you could try cutting the foil to fit exact, but that's pretty tough in light of the trim getting wider towards the tail fins! LOL! Ed Foil is probably my least favorite thing to do, but when I do it....it's always freehand. I would probably screw up if I used a ruler lol I helped do a foil job on a '56 Desoto few weeks ago and did the rear window and some other parts of it. Would ya believe I freehanded the rear window and lifted off the paper and it fit the frame? I barely had anything to trim LOL

Sometimes you just get lucky! LOL! The ruler 'trick' helps out a lot sometimes especially when the trim isn't well defined.........either too much paint build up, or a resin body that had too much primer on the master before being molded for example. Heck, at least it's one less side of the body trim you have to trim the foil off of; and you're left with a perfectly straight cut! LOL! Ed

I don't remember using up the paint I used on the body "Winnebego White"....but I can't find it so I must have. I lightened up the door seems and added some shadow to the hood/jamb? using Testors flat interior tan....it works well actually! I plan to give the car a "light" weathering , so these crevises will have a bit of a dingy look when I am done.

I was thinking last night about how much room there is inside this thing.... I might do some headliner work and put some visors and dome light up there. Not like you really see or look up in a model, but would be kinda fun. Any ideas for the rest inside? I even thought maybe I would finish it as it was "in the shop" for the diorama I will never have time to build.

that old headliner was just drooping, flapping in the wind and blocking my view so I ripped the POS right out! Ok, just need to put the dome light (wired too) , visors and rearview mirror... sorry crappy pic, but hard to photograph at the moment.

Cool! Reinforcements and headliner bows!!! Lookin good Bob! thanks! I just checked again , before I start foiling....I am glad to say that the side windows do NOT have chrome trim! The front and rear windows and vent windows are all that get the chrome! (other than the rest of the body of course)

Pretty cool Bob! I've done a couple headliners before.....of course they were in more difficult bodies......both '37 Chevy coupes! One was courdoroy (spelling?), and the other was real thin adhesive backed felt! LOL! I've never done the headliner bows though....that's cool! Ed

Never thought of doing a dome light!! Looking good Bob!! Having many cars that had a POS headliner myself, I gotta say that looks to be dead on!!!

Looking good, Bob! The door gaps look much better, and that headliner detail's really cool! A.M.S., for sure, dude!

thanks guys, I used three metalizer paints in the roof to make it look more realistic. Steel, Burnt Iron and Titanium all kinda blotted over each other. Kinda looks like it would if ya tore the headliner out hehe! If I get time I will get polishing so I can get dome and visors in.

ty conehead! I was wet sanding earlier and it's getting late....my wife will wake up if I go back at it. I am not even going to wax this one, just knocking the finish down and leaving it semi-dull working up to 12,000 grits. I will finish the sanding tomorrow and get started on the foil!
