....and we can't forget the Fiat Topolino bodies used so much we don't even think of them as being Italian.

... to say nuthing of all those english Fords, Anglias, Thames (panels & pickups), also Austins, and I think I've even seen a hopped up Morris Minor on this forum, they were all popular in the late '60's, and not just as drag cars. My cousin Fred drove a hot rod Anglia with a 327 and chrome reversed rims, in Crescent City, California, between '67 and '69. So why not the occasional French or other European car hopped-up?

To be honest, at least I thought that this forum had its rules to keep the style to what this forum is all about, rods and customs done in the kind of style they were done in the old days, and to keep stuff like pro streeters, street rods, stock vehicles, lowriders, tuners etc. out of this forum, not to be picky and just allow a narrow selection of vehicles. We're all here because we love those old style rods and customs, and most of us aren't interested in letting other stuff slip in, that's why the rules are here. I can't see the problem with a Renault or another foreign 30s car as long as the style are correct, it's not like it couldn't have been done back then and I doubt that anyone here would have anything against seeing one. We can't all build '32 Fords all the time, that would be just boring.
Of course, bob has the final say but that's just my opinion, and if a 1932 Renault wouldn't pass in a style that a 1932 Ford or Chevy could be done in and posted here, I can honestly say that I would think twice before posting here again, because that would be a sign of this forum moving from having rules to keep the quality to having rules just for having them.

I feel it is good to include more than just USA manufactured cars (and those imported and available in the USA in the TRaK era, like the Fiat) so long as they are correct for the TRaK era. We do have a number of international posters and it seems they should be able to build rods and kustoms that might have been built from available 'rod' material manufactured or available in their continent. HAMB has a number of builders from 'down under' whose 'traditional' rods have a lot of parts that have never been seen in the USA.

i've never liked the front fenders of the '50 Ford P.U. i want to pie-cut the fenders as you see (i'll have to cut them further back though), because to me, they're way too wide !!!!...i've marked 1/4 inch to be removed. i asked at KKIM and it was suggested that it'd look contemporary. got any suggestions ...thanks guys !!!!!

I guess the questions here are; Could it have been done back in the day? Yes. Would it have been done? Probably not.
If you're building a Roth style showcar I guess it would work, if it's a mildly modified truck it might be an easier one to call when it's a bit further down the line.

thanks Mike, i appreciate your input !!!!! it won't be Roth style, just hopefully a show vehicle. it'll also have a '57 Chrysler rear half as the bed. it'll be lowered and maybe sectioned a bit. it won't be chopped cause i don't know how. hopefully, it'll look presentable.

It certainly sounds wild!
I think there a resin chopped '50 cab available, don't recall from whom. I've seen them on eBay in the past.

Ive been building one similar off and on for a while now, except mine has a 57 Ford rear half! By the sound of what you are planning id say the pie cuts would be appropriate.

I saw someone that did put a 46-48 passenger car front end on a F1 and it looked great.

thanks again guys !!!!!...i've been imagineering (Clay's favorite term), those front-ends don't "feel" right either !!!!!...i'll complete the chassis and engine and maybe the interior, and think about the "look" of the body.
i had a suggestion from JonDutch because i also posted this at KKIM..., and the more i think about it... the more i think it's gonna be the look that i want...hhmmm !!!!!
