This is a little off topic, When were radial tire introduced? this may not be totally correct, but i think Michelin invented the radial for NASA or something in the late 1940s.....they were not on automobiles very commonly in that time.....if at all?

When I Googled it, I only found out that Michelin did indeed invent them in 1946. I didn't read what the application was, and they didn't come right out and say when they started using them on cars normally. They did say they had to reengineer suspension systems for these tires because of ride characteristics. Those experiments were conducted "....in the 1960s" using Ford Falcons. I can tell you, in the 60s, my dad had some radial tires on his Ford F1 p/u. They were from the F-100 fighter planes he flew in the Air Force at the time. Apparently they only used them for ONE landing and threw them away! He told me he had "Kamakaze Driver" in Japanese, spelled mirror image on the front edge of the hood. Oh yeah, this was in Okinawa!

Ahhhh, now I remember! He said they shaved them first because there was so much tread on them. The "tread" was just a bunch of straight grooves. I asked him if he had any pics but alas, no.

I actually have a Q for a change. I want to know if this body meets the Boss's approval. Its a JF I picked up from my LHS. I am going to use the wires from the new Tudor kit for wheels. I plan on keeping the ingredients all pre-69. I'm concerned because it is following a modern trend. I'm calling it an "aRt Rod" just to make a bridge between those rodent rods and "art" rods. If it doesn't fit here, I won't be mad. I'll still build it but if y'all want to see it, you'll have to go over to MCM's forum. edited for spelling

Old drag cars are allowed here as most of us know... But how about a 60s style dragracing VW bug? I mean, that's not exactly the type of car most of us are working on... Still, there was bugs racing on the strips back then too.

How about this one ? It's got a more modern 302 so the hood would have to stay on but I'm wondering about the the tires.
