I really like the look of the TRak but I am not to familiar with many of the parts. My question is, would it be possible to put a Nailhead motor in a 65 chevelle. Is this something that would have been done or is this totally ridiculous

Dave, personally.....i think a lot of stuff happened back in the day. Just because it was not put in a magazine....doesn't mean we can't do it If you want to do that....go for it! The main thing is to keep all parts pre 70.

Yep, Dave. I'm pretty confident that it WAS done, and I KNOW that it is still being done. My Step-brother has an '83 GMC truck with a '66 Buick Nailhead in it. You just can't stop them hotrodders, man. If it'll fit (give or take some hammering, cutting, slicing and dicing!!!) It'll be in there somewhere. My bloodbrother had a '63 Chevy with a 455 buick in it (LOTTSA CHAIN, man!) so I say.....GO FOR IT!!!!

Hey Rick, I say go for the Futura build, man! If it is the one that I am thinkin' (the showrod), then ABSOLUTLEY! Or, if it's a Lincoln Futura, just drop it, skirt it, candy-coat it, and throw some WWW's on it, man. Go low, go slow, go SHOW man!

Let's hope he never gets a flat tyre, that thing'll dig straight in, good thing he doesn't have a windscreen to go through...
so is English allowed here or do I have to say 'tire' and 'windshield' ? I'm kidding (sort of)
I guess rat rods are TRAKable then?

eah, but maybe not by that term... That one is kinda frowned on here. We build traditional and inn progress rods.

When I post one I'll call it a 'traditional style, low-budget rod that is primered, not especially clean and a little rough round the edges rod' then.
Thanks for the heads up Jeff!

I'm kidding (sort of) I guess rat rods are TRAKable then? say what ya want....be yourself and have fun! ok as for "rat rods".....we like to say "hot rods"....rat rod is such an abused, over used term and it's become an ugly thing at least in most opinions. if you want to build one, that is fine....you can show it here, but over exagorated usage of parts can be subject to deletion. (mainly just remember to use pre 1970 parts. pro street or big fat tires will get deleted quick)

We just refer to them as Sewer Dwelling Mamml Rods (or SDMR's for short). Build what ya' like, and post it. Just like Bob said, stay true to pre-70 stuff, and you'll do just fine. There's nothing wrong with building and showing a DRIVEN rod, and I think that MOST of the members here kinda prefer that style. Heck, I think ALL of us to some extent have bui;t and posted exactly what you have described. BTW, WELCOME to TRAK!

Thanks guys, I understand and agree. I think we're all speaking the same language here
SDMR's huh? Think I'll be adding that as a pre-70 numberplate (licence plate) to a rod sometime soon too. Mike
