Started this one in the 1980s. Picked up an original AMT '58 with warped front fenders... decided to try grafting it to the center section of an AMT '58 Impala. Modelling skills being as they were then, I managed to get the rear section grafted but didn't do so good with the front. (notice the lousy job on the chrome strips) A few years later, I scored a resin Pontiac body but never did anything. I think the time has come. This, along with finishing my '59 Ford PU, will be my holiday project. It will be changed into a Chieftain 2dr post.

Yeah, Duane, they're out there. I have another assembled original that I inherited from a buddy who passed away a couple years ago... still in bare plastic. There are also resin copies out there. I have this one on the table and I'll be working on it throughout the week... pictures will be coming as I make progress.

Man, I am always a little envious of those that can find/have the rare Ponchos. I COULD make my Imp into a cool poncho, but haven't been bitten yet by that bug. I'm watchin' and rootin' for this one. Keep us posted buddy!

Here's the front clip severed from the resin Pontiac donor body and the Chevy with most of it's front clip removed. Now, to plan all the cuts and joints for the most strength and least filling... and so I can have an opening hood. With luck, this will be one piece by nighty-night time.

This only took a couple hours. Front fenders needed to be split a bit and the rocker panels aren't quite right but it all works. Gota do some filling and build chrome strips for the doors, cut open the hood and lengthen the chassis.
