well you have good taste in cars , that's obvious! I would do away with the wheels (the new ones) ...yucky. Anyone that tells you they look great have no taste or are too scared to be honest with you. I hope to see them kick ass cars built up on this forum.

Decent idea, huh... Well, the first five look horrible, so you should just send them to me for safe disposal Just kidding... There's literally a ton of potential in each of them. I am currently restoring a SMP 1959 Lincoln (Your convertible looks like a 60, with a 59 grille) myself, and have decided to shave most of the exterior trim, but possibly keep the door handles. Further plans call for the Astro Supremes from AMT's '60 Ford Starliner, with Modelhaus T-195 US Royal Master narrow whitewall tires, and a pearl white paintjob, either with scallops or fogging along the edges, in either case done with candy paint. Edit: Here's a picture:

whatever the first car is i really like it! reminds me a bit of Outlaws '61 Chevy 4-door and i can see a cool cruiser made from that one. want to trade it for something?
the rest are all cool too and i agree about the modern styled wheels and how they look, it just seems out of place on such cool cars. everytime i see one of those Buicks i can't help but think about "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" too.

Dave I could trade it for two of the same kind!! Kidding. None are for trade. It's JoHan's '61 Olds 88. Someone tried to sell one nicely built one for 330$ on ebay way back when I bought this one. I payed 52, but of course it didn't look good. OK when stripped though.

Edit: Here's a picture: Your right. I got it with a replacement stock grill/bumper piece from Modelhaus. Sadly the right side headlights was broken, so I replased it with the better looking '59 piece from MH. Some reshaping of the fender will be needed, but that is a piece of cake. Have been wondering about the trim, and I guess if I decide for the edgy shapes are decided as a theme, I'll keep them. Otherwise I'm actually very unsure. D'Augostinios(sorry if spelt wrong) '57 lurks in my head, but I'll not changing the stock windshield. Maybe a Carson top?? Another idea lurking is related to another car. I'm unsure what the old cartoon is called, but they drove a '59 RR, or Bentley with angled twin headlights. This gave me the idea of a white car, with motive as black on white, from the '50s. This would probably be to hard to do though.

I could see the 61 Olds with a silver flake roof and a candy red body (over the silver flake) with reverse color scallops and black pinstripes seperating the colors. Keep the black steelies and wide whitewalls and watch it sparkle !

The 60 Buick would look completely sinister in black with red interior. Ditch the jacked up late 60's hot rod look and go with some Pegasus Torque Thrusts in their 19" & 23" combo and lay it on the ground. Astro Supremes and pinner whitewalls would be more traditional and painted red stellies with 4 bar spinner caps even more traditional. I know it ain't TRAK approved but I love the air bagged bigger diameter wheel look on those cars.

The 61 Ford ragtop begs for red all over. Testors Model Master Lacquer Italian red outside, satin red for the interior, red steelies with dog dish caps. 406 with three twos and a 4-speed and it would be the original Red Rocker!

Well, this is a TRaK'able option for the Buick: ;D That would be wheels from the '62 Catalina? Are there, or have it been, a custom grill with bullets like that out? Or, would the old Revell partspack bulletgrill be the closest? I can't say I'm that big fan of the Revell piece, as it is otherwise solid. I really like this Olds. They way they have painted the stock bumper, makes it look as a lot more mods then it actually is. As I'm a fan of displaying customs with the hood closed, I'm not that into using my most advanced engine builds in them, but do them clean and rather simple, but in taste with the outside of the car. Guess a stock engine would do it, or a late '60s Olds or Chevy engine.

The 406 beeing a lookalike to the 390? Meaning the engine from the Custom '60, or the '62 Thunderbird? Wheels from the '60 Ford?

As a strictly personal note, I would never use that kind of aftermarket wheels on a kit like that - The Pegasus wheels do look great and can really make a kit look stunning, but with that rare a model I'd go for something more unique to avoid the "dime-a-dozen-customizer's wheels" distracting too much of the viewer's attention from the rare car itself...

Just a current fad, and it's fading... they make a car or model look like they are the wrong scale.
