That would be a thought ChrisV if it would have done it on the body also but it didn't and they were painted at the same time.
A thought did come to mind that when I painted the inside of the hood 2 days ago, I had tape on the outside so maybe some of the residue from the tape stayed on even after rinsing it.

could be oil resedue from your air line ven after tack rag some could of still been on there strip it clean it as b4 but let it air dry then just build up layers by dust coatin the paint on with mist coats... should work better ..

Shouldn't be any oil at all because it's a oiless compressor or at least it says it is.
I'm thinking that maybe it was some residue from the tape I used to hold the stick that I taped on the top side when I sprayed the bottom of the hood a few days earlier. Anyway, it's in the purple pond now.
BTW, I did put 3 light mist coats on and then the one heavier coat when it happened.

Here's a pic of the body with it's white paint and the black engine bay. Next is trial fit the grille and bumpers then add the decals. The hood is still being worked on, I ended up putting it in the purple pond and then started over but the primer is still beading up.

Nahh, same primer and paint that's on the body. Only difference is that the hood is resin that I had made but I've painted other pieces without that problem.
I think I have it licked now. I wet sanded the primer and then shot another coat and it seems to have worked. Everything is nice and smooth now. I've got the hood in the dehydrator now and I'll shoot the paint in a day or two.

Finally got the hood to take the primer and paint and put the final wet coat on everything but had to use another can of paint because the first can the paint did not want to seem to lay down smooth. I guess next will be the decals on the body and then final assembly. Here's another shot of the body & hood.

Here's a small update but important one. I couldn't find any gauges small enough in my box for the fuel pressure gauge so I made one up using aluminum tubing.

Thanks Duane, it's appreciated. I added a fitting on the back of the gauge so it looks a little more realistic, or at least I think it does.
